The ever-popular "Currently Listening" thread

Yes folks, I'm having a flashback to the old days. I remember when breakdancing first came out. The heavyweight on our wrestling team was actually pretty good at it...which was a bit disturbing to watch.

omg, that was awful. Um, even worse is that i remember it! argh! That guy breakdancing, the 80's tech demo video, I laughed my way thru it.

The Herbie Hancock one wasnt as bad tho, a bunch of mannequins arent able to convey the utter lameness that dude was.

I have a good idea - post the WORST most cringe-inducing 80's you can! Ill see what I can dredge up.

this video supposedly killed Billy Squier's career in one fell swoop

I dare you to try and make it thru this entire Krokus video

how can we leave Boy George out of any 80's retrospective?

I picked up a bunch of stuff on the ECM Touchstones re-release list ... some cool avant jazz of the 70's ... haven't started listening yet ... will tomorrow have me listening to Bley, Dejohnette, Walcott, or ... ?

I ended up just having my iPod with me most of the day ... but Paul Bley's amazing 'Open, to Love' won the 'most played' award ...

Ok I got it,but I think you've just formed the wrong opinion about it after all it's the only kind of music that can help me relax.

Hip-hop as relaxation? Maybe we're not talking about the same stuff. There's a genre called trip-hop that's got roots in hip-hop and is pretty laid back, but that's definitely not what Eminem is doing.

:pRelaxing doen't really work when listening to Eminem but G-funk or Nas songs do the trick for me,but heck I even relax with some NWA songs(Express Yourself).

But I think no-one can deny that Lose Yourself and Stan were great songs.

Not much, though I really like
Madvillain´s Madvillainy from 2004
and Wu Tang Clan´s 36 Chambers from 1992

However, by far my favourite "hiphoppy" album is DJ Shadow´s Endtroducing... from 1996.
But that one´s genre transcending.

Hip-hop as relaxation? Maybe we're not talking about the same stuff.

Try the above mentioned Endtroducing then:

Building Steam with a Grain of Sand

Midnight in a Perfect World

What Does Your Soul Look Like, Pt. 1

One of the best albums of 90´s imo :).
