The ever-popular "Currently Listening" thread

You know how it is with coincidences...

So I'm watching this random documentary about American Diners on the iPlayer and guess who the guy interviews towards the end... another 1990 uber-classic (yes, you will most likely instantly recognise it as soon as it starts playing):

Susanne Vega - Tom's Diner

That name rang a big bell for me, so I went to check it out, 1988, not far off, no wonder. Funny you linked the lesser known piece from that album rather than the ultra-catchy "Good Tradition" (itttt's a good tradition of love and hate etc). What do you like about Twist? Is it a grower?

Watched Mr. Peter Gabriel live last Friday night - this is how "Secret World" sounded there : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRsjzRc768E

He does his "Encore" series again, by the way. www.petergabriel.com/encore

First part : An improvisation with an unfinished song.
Second part : Hits from his past.
Third part : So complete.
Fourth part : A small bonus, including "Here comes the flood" in German language (he did that in the 80s, 2 of his studio albums completely in German language).

That was just a great evening ! Just to hear all of those songs I'd been growing UP with live !
That was one of the greatest Christmas presents I've ever had ! :) (And great that my sister had had the idea - never expected this from her. ;) )

I discovered the Corrs a couple of years ago, I like their 'unplugged' stuff a lot:

They're one of the few bands I know of where the drummer is a woman.
Most bands I know of the drummer is a man.

I was a fan of them during a period of 2006-2009 or so. ;) I still like their music.
But finding out that there is a myriad of different international versions of their albums (the best ones coming from Asia and thus difficult to get here) really put me off. I really hate having to hunt after things.

Maureen Tucker of Velvet Underground is a good drummer, too.

The Velvet Underground - Heroin

Then there are

Meg White (White Stripes)
Sandy West (The Runaways)
Demetra Plakas (L7)
Debbi Peterson (The Bangles)
Denise Dufort (Girlschool)
Lori Barbero (Babes in Toyland)
Samantha Maloney (Hole)
Kathi Wilcox (Bikini Kill)
Hayley Cramer (McQueen)

if i think about it - all great bands!

Yeah, but most of them you listed I don't know a thing about. ;)
In the end, my music knowledge isn't very widespread in general, either. ;)

Went on youtube to get a correct title on a certain cartoon music and stumbled onto Sims 3 soundtrack. Dunno why but I just can't let it go.

The cartoon music? Found it too… it's a track from Tangled and a very nice cover (I love those inspired/inspiring amateur vids):
