Mass Effect - Lesbian sex CONFIRMED

Or reported on hot-girl-on-girl-action. A reporting that would never have been been if there was no interest from gamers on the subject, which speaks volumes on gamers and developers, and would be a natural event to report on. I don't see why if the gamers crave hot dyke action, and the devlopers put it in the game, why anyone would get mad at a gaming site reporting it.

Answer these questions:

Is there a large percentage of buyers of ME that enjoy hot lesbo action?

Did the developers of ME include that into the game?

If you answered yes to both these questions, please answer why it shouldn't be reported on.

I have no issue with either the inclusion of homosexual romance in Mass Effect or of reporting it. The only comment I made was comparing more 'serious and mature' reporting at once site to the 'horny teenager' style used by GR. I am not mad at them, nor do I see ruination for all of gaming. However, it has been demonstrated time and again that it is these seemingly harmless instances that brand us as gamers as horny, immature, juvenile little boys with no social skills who are waiting in their parent's basement for the next game with digital boobies to arrive. And that these instances are the ones the mainstream press picks up as examples of what is wrong with gamers.

Example in today's Penny Arcade.

Most stereotypes are based on truth. Gaming isn't serious or mature business. We live in the day and age of mindless games. It’s a mindless form of entertainment that has been gutted of all challenge and thinking. Serious games are dead. And most gamers are horny. I’m in my 30’s and I rue the day boobs stop making my dinky happy. If I were to be a girl I’d bet seeing a shirtless, blood-spattered Fabio on the cover of Doom 5 would probably make my panties drip.

I think the atrocity isn’t that lesbian sex gets headline news in gaming, it’s that the older the average gamer gets, the more pathetic the average game gets. I think catapult nukes are a far bigger sin than this being reported on. Games are made for the stupid who only need shiny graphics to get them to crack their wallet (or mommy and daddies wallet). When blockbusters of today and tomorrow are made for the purely stupid, our smallest worry should be that non-gamers might label us as horny teenagers. I’d much rather be stereotyped as a horny teenager over stupid any day. Maybe that’s why I haven’t bought a game in a while.

But anyhow, I wouldn’t mind seeing more news bits on hot pixel sex if it decreased the news bits that can’t help but highlight that intelligent games that required thinking and provided a challenge are dead. Que sera sera.

I'm almost sorry to be saying this, but you won't see any hot 'dyke on dyke' action in this game. (there are webistes for this, you know ;) ).

Technically, the asari people aren't female at all. They reproduce by parthogenesis as I learned over at the Bioware forums. They don't have any concept of gender as they just are made that way (by nature, fate or god) and as such they wouldn't probably understand the concept of 'male' or 'female'.

They may look like females to us humans, but that is only because we have a fixed notion on how females should look. Thus, we interpret their looks as female, where other species in the universe might interpret their looks at male. And the asari are a-sexual.

The only breast(s) in this game you will see are propbably Ashley's and then in a brief and discreet way.

Ah, naturally, an a-sexual alien race would not only look female to us, they'd look damn hot. That makes a lot of sense.

Please. Extremely lame setting stopgaps like the ones you're citing don't change anything. You can call the hot female alien male, female, gender-neutral, dual-gendered or a diety, it's still female-on-female action.

You'll excuse me, when looking at the writing on this game so far, that I won't trust the BioWare writers to turn this plot element (that just screams "immaturely written soap series for nerds!" even more than the Sword of Truth or Wapsi Square series ever could) into something even vaguely clever.

Hot action, though. They got their points, as the GR post shows.

Well, if the game won't require me to think or provide a challenge, I guess a brief, discreet titty shot by this Ashley might go a little ways towards compensation.

As for the asexual aliens: if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it's a f@@@ing duck. Stop trying to ruin the hot dyke action or Commander Shepard might might grab your collar and do something extreme!!!!

Aw, guys. Stop. We're blushing.

"Lesbian sex" sounds a lot more Skinemax-y than it actually is. It's a cutscene in a romance arc. It's not a twenty-minute girl-on-girl pornfest.

I thought it was tastefully done. Players have the option to play it sappy or saucy as they prefer, but it is, as always, done to further the story, not for the space boobies.

Ah, that is great, at least there is more then one romance option! (Unlike some RPGs, looking at you here, NWN2!) As someone who loves romance in her RPGs, this is great, gives the game some extra replayability :)
(Unless the male is as lovely as Carth, I never even looked at cat-woman in KOTOR : p )

I had lesbian sex once, on Serpent Isle. Brought me straight to the court and then jail.

I like jasdfgiafsd's stance on this. ;) As for the writing being immature, so far I think it's heads and miles above most of the stuff I've seen. Finally a cinematic game on Xbox 360. I don't care if it's an "immaturely written soap series for nerds."

At this point, I think the preconceived expectations are set in stone. For Bioware to deliver anything less will be a grave disappointment.

It's ... a twenty-minute girl-on-girl pornfest.

Woo hoo! It's official!

I'm just trying to convey to you that there may be races out there who we would look upon as females, while they really may be a-sexual. There's a ongoing discussion/debate over this at the Bioware forums. And yes, the parthogenesis thing is real (at least if you read the book). The asari do not need a male to get pregnant, they impregnate themselves - like certain lizards, I think.

A name is just a name or description is just a description. It is US who have decided that female have boobs and males have not. And who is saying that the asari have boobs at all?

Didn't you see "Meet The Parents," aries100? "I have nipples, Greg. Could you milk me?" OK, he didn't say "boobs," but we are starting to catch on.

As of this moment there are 55 replies and 460 views for the other Mass Effect thread vs. 36 replies and 666 views for this one. I think that proves that, if they want to sell a lot more games, they should put the words "Lesbian sex CONFIRMED" right on the box!

Apparently this has replaced Bioshock as the 'flava' o' the month.

It could be worse, you could be hyping it like Hexus:

hexus.net said:
Mass Effect has a far more attractive offer on the plate and will be the first game to feature a sex scene which utilises the processing power of the Xbox 360 offering a new realism to a sex scene with advanced graphics and a depth to the character models that we haven't seen before.
New realism to a sex scene?? I'm embarrassed to be a Hexus reader.
