The Capital Wasteland Mod for Fallout 4 that sought to recreate Fallout 3 has been halted due to copyright concerns.

If you guys haven't already heard the unfortunate news The Capital Wasteland Project (Fallout 3 in Fallout 4) is stopping development, here is their official statement. (Video on the topic coming shortly) pic.twitter.com/OMN1ZvKhbZ

Oh well another one bites the dust as they say. Joking aside it seems almost every remake of older RPG's gets a cease and desist letter form corporate suits eventually.

Especially if it's a Betshesda game.:greedy:

Kind of a strange reason. Of all differences between Gamebryo ver.17 and Gamebryo ver.18, I would have thought that audio would be the least of their worries.

But whatever, Bethesda is probably doing them all a favor for the next 3-4 years.

Not unsurprising. A: the originals are still selling and B: the law is clear, so any project of the same kind is bound to get a notification like the one they've received.

People think that they can do whatever they can, but they forget to read the EULA's and the law.

Why has this not also happened to all the Elder Scrolls remakes, such as Skyblivion, Skywind, and Morrowblivion?

If text in-game had as much erroneous Capitalization as his Message I'd be reluctant to Play it in any case.

I suppose it's too much to expect the modders to do something original and creative.

Sounds like a convenient excuse to quit. Otherwise, shouldn't this very issue have been known right from the start?

I would wager they haven't contacted Bethesda directly yet, because they know they may be cancelled. Also, original audio may not be used.

Keep in mind most of these projects never intend to complete. Their purpose is to advertise the skills of the modders so they can get professional jobs. Things to put on their resume.

Real question is why would anyone want to remaster FO3? ( except for Rjshae, though it could be one and the same)

I loved FO3 it has its fans. I like New Vegas until I entered the Casino entrance and then lost interest.

Mmm… maybe all the people who give Fallout 3 a generally favorable score on MetaCritic? But what do they know, right? Other than that though, I agree. Plunking the Fallout 4 engine on the Fallout 3 game isn't doing it any favors. It'd be better to expand it with an another external add-on expansion. Say, Atlantic City...
