If I had a nickel for every announcement trailer for Skyrim I would still be poor but I could get a fancy meal somewhere at least. :)

Looks well thought out and incremental releases is smart considering the scope of it. Hopefully this project will materialize

Man, to me this game was barely average, but years later and it still seems to somehow be in the news.

Pretty much sums up the majority of "nostalgia" games from the 90's for me.

But I do understand the lure of modding and replaying.

It's an impressive display of their modelling skills, which is probably the main point. I'd be astonished if this gets completed and actually filled with content.

I can't bear to play Skyrim or mods/expansions of Skyrim anymore. I played way too much, and now have an almost visceral dislike for the Skyrim "look and feel" (many mods just re-use assets, which makes it worse). Here they have some new models, but to me it still screams Skyrim

Typical negativity around here. Lots of people still enjoy Skyrim and think it’s a great game. When did this site turn into whiney bitchville anyway

Yeah, god forbid anyone criticize a game that you like, right?

My comment is about the general negativity around here - not Skyrim specifically. Devs read this stuff. The mod team probably saw it. Look at the Black Geyser thread and the sad pile on the Dev. I’d rather they post here but they have got to be nuts to do it.

Raise hand! While there are changes from previous entries I don't like, having just played a bit of vanilla Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim over the last two weeks, Skyrim is the better game mechanically except for spellcasting (I miss my spellcrafting and Oblivion cast-key felt much better than Morrowind/Skyrim cast-ready system) and enchanting (I miss Morrowind "cast on use").

Saying that, I find these huge mods expansion totally pointless, they never get finished. Even Tamriel Rebuild is still a work-in-progress, although it is quite remarkable that these people have been working on it for 15+ years.

Yes that's why my interest is tepid as most of these mods never get finished. They will post updates for years, and never have a finish date. Then it's just silence.

Having said that some mods like this do get finished and I give the modders credit for that. Just look at New Vegas as two huge mods are nearing completion.

Fallout: New California - http://www.moddb.com/mods/falloutprojectbrazil

Fallout New Vegas: The Frontier - http://www.falloutthefrontier.com/

Yes it started way before I was a mod/news-editor.

I was at a sports bar the other day. Some were watching Hockey while others were watching Golf. Some of the hockey fans decided that golf was shit, and declared it pretty loudly to the golf fans. The golf fans just wanted to watch and enjoy their sport in peace. The hockey fans weren't doing anything illegal. But they're still assholes.

Ah, yes - I remember the good old days. That golden time when people kept their criticisms and complaints to themselves, and commoners and developers alike basked in the glow of smiling benevolence

Heh, I don't think that ever happened. Even in the pre-web BBS days. I miss those days though. Finding game info was its own special underground world.

Well, as they say, one man's breeze is another man's draught.

On the whole, I don't think we're too bad. There's a handful of people that always spam the same noise about the same things, and that gets a little bit grating, but on the whole I think there's a balance of reasonable positivity and negativity.

Dumb analogy, and uncalled-for name-calling. This is supposed to be a site to actually discuss RPGs. If we were on a site to discuss the sports world, the relative merits of hockey and golf would certainly be fair game for discussion.
