Greetings Pathfinders!

When it comes to character creation, there’s no such thing as too many options. We know just how much many of you love the character creation process, and how important it is to make your beloved character in every detail, bring them to life, and fully embody them throughout the whole adventure. So it is only natural that you’ve all been eagerly awaiting the poll to decide the new playable race, which we announced some time ago as one of our Kickstarter campaign stretch goals.

Dying Light 2 Interview - Escapist Magazine
Earlier this month, Polish games outlet PolskiGamedev.pl ran a story claiming the 200-person team at Techland responsible for Dying Light 2 was stuck in a rut. Reports of in-fighting, mismanagement, and a lack of vision for the long-in-development project seemed to signal the ambitious zombie RPG was in danger.

We reached out to Techland to get their side of the story. Senior PR Manager Ola Sondej and Lead Game Designer Tymon Smektala shared their perspective in a wide-ranging interview that also touched upon rumors of a Microsoft buyout, game development during a pandemic, and more.

Dragon Age 4 is in Development for PS5 - GameRant
When Dragon Age 4 was first teased back at The Game Awards 2018, many had high hopes and anticipation. It was quickly discovered, though, that the game was in early development, it still didn't have an official title, and Dragon Age 4's release date was far off. Since then, the only thing that has been known about the game has been set up by Dragon Age: Inquisition.

That was until today. Ahead of the official PS5 reveal, the digital edition of July's Official PlayStation Magazine appeared online detailing a grand total of 38 games in development for PS5. Many of these have already been revealed, such as Godfall, but this is the first platform confirmed for Dragon Age 4. The official entry in the magazine (which officially goes on sale on June 2) reads, "it's been six years since the last game but a sequel is definitely coming, and it will be on Sony's next generation console."
Rumor: Harry Potter RPG Release Window Leaked - Gamerant
Gamers got a glimpse of Warner Bros.’s Harry Potter RPG nearly two years ago, but the company has yet to officially speak out about the game. Despite this, one Reddit user believes he may know when the game is launching.

Fans have been waiting to get any official word on the game since the footage of the Harry Potter RPG had leaked, but Warner Bros. has been strangely silent on the project. The Harry Potter RPG was seemingly confirmed when a Character Vault guide was photographed at the Avalanche Studio Group’s office on a character designer’s desk, reigniting the buzz around the game. Now, one Reddit user posted information that may give fans a projected release time for the game they’ve been waiting for.

I'm not a big Harry Potter fan. But how on earth has there been no big video games based on that IP? Is there some rights battle with the Harry Potter name and world that's been holding it all back? It seems like a cash cow waiting to be milked!

Unsung Story - First Playable Stream

Unsung Story was first launched on Kickstarter in 2014 as the spiritual successor to Final Fantasy Tactics with the support of Yasumi Matsuno, Hitoshi Sakimoto, and Akihiko Yoshida. After reaching their goal, the development stalled and eventually the project was abandoned by the original team. In 2017, Little Orbit took everything over and has promised to deliver all of the Kickstarter rewards. On June 1st 2020, Little Orbit's CEO Matt Scott streamed the "First Playable" and played the first 3 missions of the game end-to-end.

Vaporum: Lockdown Release Window Update - Steam
Hey, fellow crawlers!

We are sorry to inform you that we have to delay the release of Vaporum: Lockdown. This is nothing too special with what's going on in the world, but still, we feel you deserve more than a dry announcement.

Although nobody in our team has been affected by the disease directly, working from home has had a significant impact on the project. It's been a big challenge organization-wise. During this finish-line phase, the remaining tasks tend to be small but many. Which requires more communication than actual work, and that's difficult, as we can't deal with things face to face. No matter, our 5-member team is pushing through the issues as best as we can; it simply takes more time.
Odd Gods New Concept Art - Kotaku
Odd Gods is all about the '90s, while playing in the '90s. Instead of rolling a mage or a paladin, your "subcultures" are things like skaters, skapunks, ravers, goths and jocks. And instead of turns going in order, Odd Gods is using a simultaneous system similar to Frozen Synapse, where all moves are executed concurrently.

Developers Inn Between Worlds have given us a string of art to show from the game. There's a look at the various subcultures, environments and backgrounds, as well as some of the game from the isometric viewpoint.

Odd Gods is currently without a publisher, although the game has received support from Film Victoria. The game did the rounds at PAX Australia a few years ago as well,

Fallout: New California BETA 231 Released - moddb
Since FNC was released in October 2018, thousands of bugs have been fixed, the world has been improved, and adjustments to game-play balance have made the experience much more smooth and enjoyable. This update's change-log is 7 Pages Long.

We re-compressed the meshes and textures, so this is a full re-download. Not a small patch. These new NIFs should avoid random crashes, caused by the way the meshes were originally exported from 3dsMax to Nifscope, a 3rd Party mod tool not issued by Bethesda or Gambryo, which were prone to corruption. Same with the DDS textures, also with no official tools, and had introduced incorrect MipMapping (the way the computer scales textures that are further or closer on your screen) that caused performance issues. This has been an ongoing situation and why we had to rebuild and re-release the full game 3 times (the 3 in BETA 231.)

231 also contains a great deal of world map adjustments and new exploration content, and overall improvements to the look of things outside the Vault. New notes and discoverable locations now pepper the world, and your bridge to New Vegas after the end of FNC should be smooth as butter, no matter how many mods for vanilla you have adding junk to Doc Mitchell's house.

Subtitles have been corrected universally and a lot of small issues and bugs have been fixed regarding conversations that lacked cohesion and needed to match voice files.

Grenades have universally been removed from mutant load orders and "infinite spawns" of background actors during large events were reduced.

Phoenix Point - Danforth Update Details - Developer Post
With the next major update for Phoenix Point, which we’re calling “Danforth,” rapidly approaching, we’d like to give you the rundown on the features and changes that you can expect to see.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Due to the changes made to tactical missions, any mid-mission saves may be invalidated. Should you try to load a save-game made during a tactical mission, you may be sent back to the auto-save made before the mission began.

We advise any players with ongoing campaigns to complete any missions in progress and make a new save on the Geoscape before applying this update.

Is it just me, or do Japanese RPG crowd funding projects have a really shitty track record?
True as I posted many news-bits back in the early golden crowdfunding days. There not the only crowdfunded games that haven't been released, or failed after releasing.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister Community Vote - The Redeemers
Giant insects with terrifying destructive capabilities, Redeemers are a scourge upon the world. They devour everything in their path, are incredibly hard to kill and - if that wasn't terrifying enough - have the innate ability to identify and go after spell-casters first. But what manner of curse unleashed these monsters on Solasta? Their origin has been hotly debated amongst scholars for centuries, but it will soon be revealed…

Corven: Path of Redemption now on Kickstarter - Kickstarter Page

What is Corven?

Corven is a story-driven, open world, single player RPG inspired by our favorite RPGs from the 1980s and 1990s, especially Richard Garriott's Ultima series.
We miss Ultima and its design philosophy and so we set out to create something similar.

Corven will let you explore an interactive open world full of secrets and surprises. Maybe even more important than that, Corven will deliver an engaging story with many interesting NPCs.

Our goal is to make you want to know "what happens next?" in the main quest. Or in side quests for example"why is the, married, mayor of this town sneaking over to this other woman's house almost every night?"

The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes Reviews

GameWatcher - 5/10
Aside from that, the game is capable in doing what it sets out to do. It must be warned that I encountered a fair amount of bugs, including late-game characters becoming unplayable, rest menus getting stuck on the screen until I restarted the game, sleepwalking characters that would spawn out of bounds, and a very unusual bug which for reasons I can’t pinpoint, made every single one of my player-characters lose their hair styles. These bugs range from “nuisance” to “campaign ending”, so be aware that your experience may not be wholly smooth after a few hours.

If you are a fan of old-school RPGs or a fan of The Dark Eye, Book of Heroes should be right up your alley. The mechanics are complex enough to require you to know the rule book, the world is expansive enough to have a few playthroughs, and the scope is small enough to make it manageable. However, if you have no intense interest on old-school game design or the franchise itself, I recommend you stay away – the focus on maths instead of heart and soul makes this the kind of niche game that would feel dated 10 years ago, and the end result in modern times ends up being extremely boring.
Critical Damage - 9/10
The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes is a great representation of the quality you can achieve when taking an excellent tabletop ruleset and building a video game around it. It stays true to its source material whilst not being afraid to bring some new concepts to the table that we haven’t seen in other RPGs.It does have some minor drawbacks and frustrations in both the graphical and AI departments, but I can’t say that either of these is enough to take away from how polished and fun the game is. The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes is a fantastic RPG with plenty to offer any budding adventure!

Elden ring, yum.

Those are 2 very differing opinions on book of heroes. One says it’s very buggy other says it’s polished.

well you know who received some money then  ; when steam user score is 3/10 you know something is definitely wrong with the game

I'm definitely interested in Elden Ring. I never really got into the Souls games, but Elden Ring sounds like a cross between Dark Souls and King's Field which I really enjoyed back in the day.

Has there been any actual gameplay footage shown yet? The footage in that video appears to be from Bloodborne.
