As the title says, anyone here switching over to Signal.

I've had Signal for a while but many of my contacts are switching over now since Facebook are integrating WhatsApp...

Been on Signal for years now. The main thing to bear in mind is that it takes security very seriously. If you want to transfer your messages to another phone, you have to create a backup with a strong passcode, and transfer the backup over. Nothing tricky, just an extra step that folks might not be used to.

Have installed Signal on my cellphone to contact that *one* friend who decided to leave Facebook Messenger (sigh). It's basically like sending SMS except we can have "group SMS". yay!

I am using both, but all my WhatsApp contacts are in the EU, so there is no new reason for them to move away from WhatsApp as in the EU the integration with Facebook, is not taking place, like it is outside of the EU and UK.

I don't use facebook so there is no reason for me to switch on anything.
I use Viber for like a decade now and everyone I care about does too.
I have Signal installed on my phone for more than a year, but no contacts of mine use it so it's basically useless.

When I said I don't use facebook, that ment everything owned by facebook.

Same with me I've decided not to use Facebook or Twitter anymore. Frankly I'm just tired of all the drama and politicized idiots on the services. Not counting all the scammers.

So one less hassle to worry about and I recommend others do the same.:)

For most of my friends, we've moved pretty much all social media activity to Signal groups. It works great, and is really all you need, without the bullshit.

Not using Facebook doesn’t mean Facebook isn’t collecting data about you. Every web page you visit with a FB like button is collecting data about you. Advertisements on a page can come from Facebook and collect data about you and more stuff like that.
Facebook is collecting vast amounts of information about people who are not on Facebook, which they are able to relate to you personally by using other databases.
With the right add-ons in your browser you might be able to prevent that from happening or limit it, but it is challenging to completely prevent that.

I installed Signal to see what it's like, and only two contacts showed up as using it. One was an old friend who is in the army whom I haven't talked to for years, the other was my dentist.
Of all the geeks I have worked or socialised with over the years, not many of them use anything, it seems.

China just blocked Signal. Apparently it got too popular.

Yes, I consider that a good sign of Signal's quality. Winnie the Pooh doesn't like it when he can't inspect The People's Text Messages.

Lol. Those Cellebrite hacks poked the wrong bear with their BS claims about Signal. Those guys really know their stuff.

I feel old, when I admit it, but I still use only email, when it comes to electronic messages...
