The ever-popular "Currently Listening" thread

Good for you, CU. I think "Last of Ariadne" would be a good fit on a James Bond soundtrack. Perhaps that would be a easy idea to work with.

edit- Hope Chest for me today, from the upcoming ep:
"Beautiful"

I'm currently listening to … myself:
http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6587571

After those 20 beers will be out of my system, I'd probably listen to this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtFPdBUl7XQ&feature=related
(it's a brutally shortened version, but still)

Ok, scratch that, I'm listening to Arvo Part's Sipegel im Spiegel right now and it's so fucking beautiful, I've lost all of my favourite words immeditatedly:).
Seriously, it can't get much better than this. I'm happy something like this exists:).

Thankfully, there's some more of Arvo Part's music on Youtube. His music is completely breaking my stupid self, beers or not:).
This is just so fucking great (especially the second, also significantly shortened, movement starting at 2:45): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OwdlKiB_ro
Oh, and the video is just stunning, too.

Part's Tabula Rasa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabula_Rasa_(Arvo_Pärt) puts music into a serious perspective. I just don't understand how did he come with all that greatness, but I'm sooooo glad he did.

I recommend Tabula Rasa to every music enthusiast out there. If there's anyone who found the holy grail of modern serious music, it's Arvo Part. (and it's not about religion in my case - I'm an agnostic with a strong tendency to atheism:))

This http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e348n660zrA is a repost, but I can't omit this song in Arvo Part post:). I'm drown in tears while listening to this.

My favourite alcoholic drink is ten bears and today I've got two of it, so I'm pretty sure I will regret this post tomorrow, but what the hell:devil:.

Muse - Map of the Problematique

One of their many, many good songs, I curse myself for not listening to them until just after their last visit to Sweden.

I'm a Muse fan. My favorite is Butterflies and Hurricanes because I like the piano part so much.

DeepO: I liked your song. What are you using to compose with? I just bought a Roland Fantom X8 keyboard and I'm having a blast writing stuff. - I like writing orchestral scores that would fit in games or movies. Still getting the hang of it, but it can do incredible things.
Btw... I certainly wouldn't be offended if you used less profanity in your posts. ;)

Yes, the piano part in Butterflies and Hurricanes is very nice, but I'm not sure which song is my most favorite, Hysteria probably.

And right now I'm listening to a radio-humor show called Pang Prego.

Good stuff courtesy of Projekt. Hadn't heard of this group, but apparently they've been around a while.

"From the Inside" by Chandeen
(sorry, couldn't find more than the clip...the other clips are pretty good, too, "Clean the Traces" probably would garner more interest around here)

What are you using to compose with?

Well, I compose most of my songs on guitar and than make the arrangements in Reason 2.5, mostly with samplers and various refills.

And sorry for the high profanity ratio, I shouldn't be posting on board right after the full night drinking contest, even less so while in the melancholy phase:).

As for what I'm currently listening to, Ennio Morricone it is:
Chi Mai - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbdPUiih020
Gabriel's Oboe - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9i53wNgH5wU

hey dte quit that funny business. have you been peering into my head or something. i too had never heard of Chandeen 'til a few weeks ago and i don't remember exaclty how i 'heard' them but i bought their cd "a taste like ginger" with a handful of others for very cheap off half.com. some of the songs were a little 'popish' but there are for sure some excellent tracks on their easily worth the like 4 bucks i paid for it.

standing under everyone
Projekt sent me an email a week ago advertising the new release from Autumn's Grey Solace. On that email, they also pitched Melodyguild (Suzanne Perry of Love Spirals Downward fame--also pretty good) and the latest from Chandeen. I finally got around to listening to the Chandeen samples and was very pleasantly surprised.

Ok, time for some progressive rock:). Porcupine Tree should do.

The Sound Of Muzak - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ARJRCcfY_A
A hit song in 5/4.

Piano Lessons - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CvxoeasJ2E&feature=related
Pretty good clip, in vein with band's cynicism.

Arriving Somewhere But Not Here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0FLruYo3Ls
Sadly, only song's first part was posted, but since it's my favourite by PT, I'm including it anyway.

Buying New Soul - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpAkF4g11PE
Great song for awakening.

Led Zeppelin/Black Sabbath mashup:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9xOyDLYn-Q
In verse, Ozzy sings about destruction of mankind and then Robert Plant is having an orgasm in chorus. Classic:).

Mr. Bungle - Carry Stress In The Jaw:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sOtoq6h5cQ&feature=related
Their second album, Disco Volante, was such an entertaining masterpiece!

Shpongle - Botanical Dimensions
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzRJrzV5CIY
From their third, last and the best album. It has a great (psy) flow.

Strapping Young Lad - Shitstorm
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFPg0zJZtBE
As one of the commentators on Tube put it, pure concentrated insanity. Love!

My Dying Bride - For My Fallen Angel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLmspcgrYrY
To stay a bit in "Line". Great ending to an album.

Yeah, this whole post is a mashup:biggrin:.

still totally into A Line of Deathless Kings, it's great

might be the best MDB cd ever IMHO, and strangely enough - no death metal vox. It doesnt lack power tho, very powrful cd. It's strange how I can always look to this band for a solid release, here's their newest cd, by all rights it should suck. They should have betrayed me by now. Nope, all their stuff is solid doom, love it.

What Sammy, no soundclip? By no death vox do you mean none of that exorcist-voice thing the male vocalists like to do--that would be most cool, as it usually makes me have to cringe out--though I think a few people do it well.

I moved this over here from the P&R forum as it's actually a silly song more than anything else:

dte--this one's for you :
dead link
Waitress, please, the fruit plate.

Edit--sorry can't find a live link for this atm if I do I'll post--glad you caught it yesterday, dte.

That link is dead, but I caught it yesterday via the politics thread. Good one.

Haven't really listened to any tunes for several days, so I don't really have anything to offer for now. I know y'all are terribly disappointed. ;)

Weezer - Pork and Beans. Great band. Great song. As always.:D

"Imma do the things that i wanna do
I ain't got a thing to prove to you
I'll eat my candy with the pork and beans
Excuse my manners if i make a scene
I ain't gonna wear the clothes that you like
I'm fine and dandy with the me inside
One look in the mirror and i'm tickled pink
I don't give a hoot about what you think.
