CD Projekt RED - REDkit beta update, Witcher 3 teased?

Does it actually say that he's "too old" to be a Witcher in one of the books, or is that just your opinion? ;)

Well, yes and no. After Geralt's encounter with striga (The Last Wish) he takes some R&R at Melitele's temple. He is being healed by his friend (and chief priestess) Nenneke who grumbles that he doesn't heal as fast and as well as he used to. That he would never let himself to be suprised like that when he was younder and that he is getting too old for the trials and strains of Witcher's life and should retire and get a life :)

A new protagonist that "work" for Geralt, because he's now too "old" would be the way to go.
No, it wouldn´t.
Playing a sorta I´m-too-old-for-this anti-hero character is one of the intended defining characteristics of the games and getting rid of it for the sake of fresh out of school main protagonist would certainly not make the third game inherently better. If anything, it would make it less unique.

Couldn't agree more DeepO. In both "Sword of Destiny" and "Last Wish" it crops up again and again that not only Gerald is growing old but the time where Witchers were a force to be reckoned with is passing. No new Witchers, less and less living ones, less and less monsters of a monster kind (as opposed to monsters of a human kind). From heroes to someting mothers frighten their children with...

"Verily, there is nothing so hideous as the monsters, so contrary to nature, known as witchers for they are the offspring of foul sorcery and devilry. They are rogues without virtue, conscience or scruple, true diabolic creations, fit only for killing. There is no place amidst honest men for such as they..."
