The devs of Mad Sheep Studios are working hard to finish their tactical open world RPG Urtuk: The Desolation:

RPG Urtuk: The Desolation

Urtuk is an adventure, turn-based tactical game, set in a dark fantasy world. The world is open and the player can travel freely with no limitations. The game contains two main parts - one is the world map, where the player holds a party of adventurers and travels freely across the map. The other part is the combat, introducing hex map with turn based tactical options, where the two opponent sides execute (in free order) units' actions. The world in the game is a place of pain, suffering and darkness. Urtuk is the name of main character. His story begins when he escaped from the Sanatorium, a place where medical experiments take place on common people. Urtuk's escape was successful thanks to his fellow old friend - Eldric. Urtuk has suffered a mortal disease, a mutation in the Sanatorium. Now he searchs for a cure in the world. It's only matter of time, when his mutation evolves to a level, when he finally dies.

This one wasn't on my radar yet. The graphics obviously look "inspired" by Darkest Dungeon and the interface is prettty horrible as it seems.

But I will definitely keep an eye on that one. Thanks for pushing this news.

I love hexagon-based combat. Also, this seems to be set in a cool mythos, but I can't say I'm thrilled about the art style though.

"The world in the game is a place of pain, suffering and darkness."

Haven't we had enough of those? It's perfectly viable to create settings that aren't depressing…

I like "depressing" and I don't think there is enough of it yet. :p

Depressing and miserable settings are okay in my book, if they're done properly.
