My group is all lvl 46 now and only need 1 more council quest in the main storyline.
Done most of the class promotion quests except 1 or 2 I think.
Though I have 0 NPCs…Had one in the beginning of the game, but got rid of him early on.

I wish you guys would stop it … I've started a game, but had to set it aside to finish everything else first … but this discussion is making it increasingly hard to stay away!

I seem to remember being in the 70's late game, if that's any help. Of course, levels are harder and harder to come by as you go along, as I'm sure you've already noticed.
One of these days when my computer stops giving me fits I intend to go back again, too, Mike--but the lure of ArcoMage is making me think maybe MM7 this time.

Arcomage is available as a stand-alone. I believe it's available on abandonware sites now cuz I DL'd it and I'm pretty careful with that sort of thing. You might check Underdogs if you just want to scratch the Arcomage itch.

Celestial Heavens might have a link to a functional DL site. My apologies, but I'm too lazy tonight to check.

I plan on going back to M&M VI when I have more free time for gaming. That's when I'll play through the entire M&M Platinum Edition.

MM9 is an insult to the series and shouldn't be spoken of in polite company.
I enjoyed MM8 more than most, but I even have to admit they dished up a healthy helping of "more of the same". I remember banging my head on the wall over one puzzle in MM8--it's hard to work a musical puzzle when you play with the sound turned off (after seeing what sounds the game has to offer, I turn them off in favor of internet radio since M&M never really had what I'd call good sound/music).
I've never had a freeze in MM7. Other than the frustrating bug in the archlich promo quest (which Mock's mod supposedly fixed), I don't remember any glaring problems. Perhaps you hit a bad install?

I had a lot of crashes in ArcoMage itself, but not outside in the main game. Yeah, I've tried finding that download before. So far I haven't had any luck either. Might be just as well, considering how I spent more time playing Arcomage than the actual MM7 game.

Acromage freeze ups,,, you bet.
I'll fire up MM 7 and try to be more specific.
MM IV, level 57-58, and still places I can not go.
Titans and dragons and demons, oh my! Off to see the wizard.

@ old fool: Broadly, once you complete all the character upgrade quests and all the council quests, and all the sidequests, you just have the four crystal quests. When you start on them, you're probably in the last quarter or less of the game.

I just found the Prima official strategy guides for M&M VI, VII, and VIII on Ebay. I noticed a guy trying to auction them separately without success, so I offered him a deal for all 3.
I won't use them while actually playing the games, but rather wanted them as collectors items. They're over 200 pages each, and include photos+descriptions of all monsters, weapons, items, etc.

I agree, those 2 books are a great and helpful resource. Book 8 was not really necessary.

Looks interesting, apparently it doesn't work in full screen mode though.
