I don't know if they're serious, but they're certainly serious enough to have made themselves costumes and set up their own websites.
What a bunch of lunatics. Mostly American I feel I should point out, it's not really a very British thing. Although I see they have listed Angle Grinder man who I have seen reported in proper media and who I think is entirely genuine.
Some lolworthy stuff there anyway.

One may ask, how I can call myself a superhero when I can't fly or run at mach 3. The answer is simple. I am idealistically super. I see what, in my opinion, needs changed in society and I work towards that goal. I can't say if I will ever fight an army of giant robots or a criminal master mind, I just don't know. What I do know, however, is that I will fight injustice in whatever form it takes

Not unlike the 1940's characters in the Watchmen who were mostly meant to be publicity stunts according to the story - until they disappeared in scandle, murder or just caught up in cold war government work.
I remember Superbarrio, the Mexican wrestler. He's such a throwback to some of these guys who lose and take themselves a little too seriously.
I don't see here Fat Momma or any of the others from that show by Stan Lee about Wannabe Superheroes.
I also don't see my own alter ego, Thunder Brains!

One of our cats has a super power. She only weighs about eleven pounds, but on a whim she can tripple it. Try lifting her up off your lap, and you'll find out!
Look, in the lap! It's…it's…Deadweight Cat!!

Oh, I wish I had a river I could skate away on. But it don't snow here. It stays pretty green. I'm going to make a lot of money, then I'm going to quit this crazy scene. -- [Joni Mitchell]
