How do I use cheat codes on Empire Earth?

I'm playing the first Empire Earth and I read oline that all I have to do is press 'enter' durring game play, enter the code, and then press 'enter' again. I tried it, but nothing happend. How do I make it work?

You enter the cheat codes in the chat window and press enter that's it.
Maybe ur typing the wrong cheat or the game is corrupt

Or in a localised version it might not work or different cheats … I've seen games that had different cheats in localized versions …
