Ben Sala Problems
March 1st, 2009, 02:46
The desert is driving me nuts. I'm redoing Ben Sala because of the Lurker claw redo (other thread). Unfortunately, I've got two problems. Enzo is lying dead in the dirt. WTF? Also, Miguel wont give me the escort quest. Again WTF?

I'm getting annoyed. I tried the Ctrl+F and F8 but Enzo just dies and I get "The End". Also I can't switch back to Nameless. Typing "Control PC" gets me nowhere.

Who is Enzo and why is he important? Are you supporting the nomads or the hashishin?

I think your problems are typical of locations where monsters and friendlies are spawned close to each other. Ben Sala is one of the worst places for this, but unnecessary fights also occur in one of the rebel hideouts close to minecrawlers (Okara?) and inside Vengard. The only way to make sure it doesnt happen is to take out enemies within a certain radius of the town before entering.
Unless playing as Hashishin (in which case you get the start of a relatively lengthy quest there) I wouldnt worry too much about Ben Sala though, the inhabitants are all evil slavers anyway from a RP perspective and the place is not crucial for anything
The NPCs arent critical for anything except for strictly local quests.
As for Miguels quest I suppose this is the one where you escort a slave back to town? I often fail to get that one as the poor slave usually is dead before I get to him, again because the AI wandered off in a monster-populated area and got into an unnecessary fight.

Miguel is just standing in the cave starving. He has no interest in being helped. I reloaded an old game and tried again for the same result. At first he talks about being stuck in the cave but then dialog ends before I get a chance to trigger the escort. I wonder if it happens to be tied to Enzo's death? I know Miguel has one of the crates I need to give to Enzo in his inventory so perhaps there is a relationship? I don't know. I'm not going to worry about it, I'm off trying to collect Temple keys anyway. Getting into see Gonzales is a bigger challenge. I'm shy 10 rep points.

The quest to save Miguel is a quest given by Enzo to find his apprentice. Without Enzo, there is no quest as far as I know.

Yes, that's right, you have to get the quest given first.
By far the easiest way (done it a dozen times) is to clear the perimeter of the small Ben Sala village first as there are some orc swap-over guard routines that encourage the undead to drift into town. Then talk to all the locals and get the quests. When enough Ben Sala reputation is gained the orc Dolok and his small team will escort Nameless hero to the temple and will make entry a piece of cake. I actually got the orcs into the inner tomb allowing me to go straiaght for Yugul (the cursed one) - it was all over in two minutes.
The Dolok trio will stay guarding the temple on completion.

Thanks for the advice folks. In the end it I left the land liberated without that quest complete. Oh well. You'd have to be a rockstar to complete every quest in this game. I figured the first time I saw the "scared deer" run off that quest was a goner, along with a good dozen since then.
