Play Gothic 3 (1.7) w/ German Voices/English Subtitles?

I have been trying to get this to work. I have installed the game in German, copied the sound files … mixed and matched with English sound files and dabbled with ini settings.

I am failing.

Ideas on how to make it work?

The way it could work is:
- install the German full version
- replace only the subtitles
- learn enough German to understand the menus

Good idea … it got me to start over from scratch and here is what I have:

Menus/Subtitles in English
Voices in German

I am not sure what I did wrong at first but just starting over worked.
I uninstalled Gothic III then installed German (I ACCEPT and NEXT HA!).
Installed the CP1.7 which detected German. Installed QuestPak 3 and hotfix.
Then changed ge3.ini from German->English as:

[Languages]
Voice.SupportedCount=1
Voice.Entry_0=German
Subtitle.SupportedCount=1
Subtitle.Entry_0=English

;                                                    /////////////////////////////
;                                                    Active Language (voice and subtitle)
[Language]
Text=English
Audio=German

Then changed UserOptions.ini German->English on:

Code:

SubtitleLanguage=English

So far so good. I am not sure what problems this may cause either the new CP or QP but I will address at that time.

I have found a few quests in the Humanforce's mod that do not have subtitles, however a large number of them do have English subtitles. Surprising as the quest pak is only officially released in German so far.
