Default King's bounty: What tricks around wifes?

I jump onto the first "female" available, standard male behavior, but now she gets 4 children, I wonder if it worth for more than curiosity to try get another one.

I'll lost a lot of money and I wonder if it worth the separation and the new wife. At least there's no monthly payment and alternate guarding.

It depends, different wifes fit different playing styles, you might not want 4 children either , since some wife could give you an extra artificats slot for example….

I would advice to experiment unless you are very satisfied with the bonus you get for this one. You can also exploit the money loss just hire a lot of useful units and leave them in a castle and in your reserves…. and devorce the wife you'd need to recruit those units sooner or later anyway.

Each wife has different 'bonuses', and can carry different items. You can probably find a list in Google with the different wives' abilities. They also have different inventory slots (so they can wear more or less items of a certain type). Guess you can just save before changing wives and check the new one out. (Wish we had that ability in real life, but alas, most only show their 'nature' after the fact)

Just to be sure - we aren't talking about real life wives here?

Aheemmm….(obediantly ignoring secret male attempts at clumsy subterfuge as usual) the pragmatic approach is usually best with the wives. It's okay to dump them for someone who better fits your needs(just like real life) but it's painful if you happen to be sitting on a lot of cash and troops at the time. Use your accountant to figure out a way around this as Gothic suggests.

I like having about two kids and two useful inventory slots--the demon wife lets you wield two weapons, the frog girly gets two artefacts, I think, etc, so find the woman that fits your style and things will go better (also just like real life )

I was a Warrior with the frog wife (in frog state mind you) and a bunch of Royal Snakes … Wowsers!

While still in human shape she convinced me to get a kid that turned out to give a mana bonus … useless little brat. That's when I gave her the cold shoulder and after a while she turned green and stopped bugging me.

@GothicGothicness: Yes this wife thing is a bit sarcastic and a reference to modern life, there's multiple details like that like the golum reference and many other. I don't like much but they didn't spoil my fun, anyway the writing isn't at its best.

Buying units before divorce bother me a little because it means I know what I'll do in future. I already did many expenses for changing my army composition and I'm still not fixed as it's perhaps not as satisfying than the previous or I haven't yet find the best way to manage this mix. An option I haven't tried yet is to use Grifons but it's not easy to anticipate. Well I don't remember the money lost, 25% or 30%, the lost could worth the more open choices for later.

@fatBastard: So the child bonus are random too. I suppose those I got aren't all bad (+5 defence, 20% defence but also +10 rage and + 5% xp from fights).

@magerette: The problem is to regret an ex wife, the game should allow marry again with an ex wife.

@wolfing: Yes I finally check quickly a list (well done at gamebanshee) but it's a bit spoil, well it's not that easy to choose and after all if I get something static with 4 children, at this point I like the int bonus and two children bonus. Reading the list I saw some spoils like I could try go further with the pirate woman or investigate more with the thief girlfriend.

I tried Mirabella to see but well I'll reload to get my sweet frog. Mirabella is really cool mainly if you want make an army of pirates and thieves alas apart the sea dogs I haven't quote any cool unit. The good points is that by doing the linked quest I could get the frog wife as a frog form with the frog bonus. I noticed I could get back to human form but not again to frog form. Currently the int bonus allow me reach 15 and the snake bonus isn't bad but apart for king snakes. Too bad later I could wish use them and be able to have int 15 without this bonus.
