American vacuum cleaners suck

Or perhaps they don't suck enough?
Occasionally I have the pleasure of watching TV-shop on my telly. Currently there is a documentary about a new vacuum cleaner using water in stead of a paper bag to collect dust. One of the things we learn from this documentary is that you can't use ordinary vacuum cleaners to get rid of broken glass fragments.
I disagree, I've used several vacuum cleaners ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS to absorb broken class. Since it's an american documentary, I can only assume that the sad fact is that you can't use american vacuum cleaners for said procedure. I have wondered why, but I assume that this is because american cleaners must be very old. Which is no surprise, since the requirements for these devices (in the cellar) is part of the american constitution from 177x.
"The only product Microsoft can make which doesn't suck, would be a vacuum cleaner".

Usually I would say that a TV-shop Documentary is an oxymoron and I wouldn't trust their "facts" any farther than I can throw them.

"Chess in particular had always annoyed him. It was the dumb way the pawns went off and slaughtered their fellow pawns while the kings lounged about doing nothing that always got to him; if only the pawns united, maybe talked the rooks around, the whole board could've been a republic in a dozen moves." - Commander Vimes in Thud! by Terry Pratchett

You mean I can't trust what I see on T V, now? What has the world come to.
