An incredible body of research just came online -- service records of about 250,000 medieval English soldiers, "from duke to archer" are now available to search. If you have ancestors from that neck of the woods, it might be interesting to see if you find any matches.

That's amazing stuff. Also makes me feel quite jealous, as I've absolutely no hope of getting even remotely close to those dates with my own research (in fact, I don't see how I'll get past 1800 or so, there just aren't records).
