kill Jack or not ?
July 22nd, 2009, 05:27
new to Gothic 3, so first time through, I got path 1.72
I've killed the bilge rats and Jack has given me a reward,
is there a downside to killing him now and taking his stuff ?
does it affect my reputation ?
does he give a another quest later on ?
so, kill him or not ?

I am not sure but I don't think it makes a diffrence anymore if yoi kill him or not, except that the villagers at the starting village might get angry.

you can get away with killing most of the NPCs as long as there is no one nearby.

You mean old Jack by the lighthouse? I can't imagine that killing him would even be worthwhile.

The majority of random NPCs in Gothic 3 have very little in the way of gold or items on them.

Yeah kill a few rabbits/sheeps/snakes and you'll get the same amount of EXP.

What the others want to tell you is:
You can kill him and collect a bit of unimportant loot. But why would you kill somebody you know from Gothic 2, according to the storyline?

I started a new game with the goal of killing everyone except Jack actually, no joke. I didn't go through to the end with my plan, still havent finished G3, but went far enough for proof of concept. Idea was to make a character that was magic only, that didn't need training from anything except shrines and used Jack as a spot to sell items to pay for training. Reason I chose Jack was he was easy to get to while not being inside of a main city that I planned on clearing out. I've read that killing everyone might break the end game but I have yet to see.

I don't think it was the same Jack.
PB may have intended him to be cause he was named Jack and had a lighthouse but he didn't seem to recognize you or say anything to imply that he was from G2.
