So, have we milked this ridiculous topic for all the humor we can? Yeah, I think the udders are empty and getting chafed. Moving on then, folks.

A little annoying huh? Ok, it was fun for awhile to not to be so serious all the time, but ok moving on till the next ridiculous topic arises. Then the Horned Rat shall return with all new dumb jokes

I can't help it. Look at that username. An "R", plus 3 vowels and no apostrophe! Such an obvious lack of creativity eats at my soul until my bitterness overflows and I blindly lash out at those around me. If Dragon Age is doomed, dteowner can't be far behind.

At the tip of the tongue?
Almost silent, like the English.
…. like the americans?
Or the more fitting one, from the back of the palate (like I pronounce it).
I know. A completely useless contirbution.

To the guy's credit, it looks like he was right about the specialisations a few weeks ago.
IGN has just released a character creation video that reveals nine of the specialisations. Beserker, Templar, Champion, Reaver, Ranger, Bard, Duelist, Assassin and Spirit Healer.
It makes me wonder whether he was telling the truth about Loghain as well. Or just mixing a few truths and guesses.

But Loghain seems an important historical figure and a leader. I would find it surprising if he was willing to join your party.
Though the developers have said there is one NPC you have to allow into your pool of companions. So it is possible that could be him.
Maybe in the first half of the game you think Loghain is the dangerous villain, so you try to track him down. But when you find him, you realise he is on your side. So he joins your party.
I guessing he probably would be a warrior or maybe rogue.

There are many achievements as well. They even included an "achievement" for each romance. If you "complete" all romances, 4 in total, you get the achievement "hopeless romantic". So if anyone wants to collect romance cards, DA is the right place to do it!
I'm a bit curious about the gay romance even though I am getting bad vibes from it, since the writer chose a stereotype gay character (Zevran) for this purpose. Gayder probably felt this character is just about perfect for a gay romance; golden locks, soft face and a fruity demeanor. Way to enhance stereotypes, you go girl!

I don't think they have revealed much about Zevran.
But if Alistair is meant to be light hearted and irreverent. I guess they will make the other female romance character different to him.
I think it is hard to do romances. I am guessing they try to write strong characters first and then try to fit in some romances afterwards. Ultimately they have to choose out of Alistair, Zevran, Oghren or Sten for the gay romance.

Quote: Posted 05/12/09 17:01 (GMT) by barbarianbarbieI am not sure exactly what they mean by reference to Spike. It could be he has edge or intensity. Or he relishes dramatically playing up to a bad boy image.
[I don't know if anyone noticed, but in the latest (and most controversial I might add) video the male elf, Zevran(?), is shown briefly entering the hall where Loghain awaits. I must say he has got quite the swagger. And not girly-boy at all, (I'm being serious here) it's kind of a bad-boy swagger. ]
Good call. One of Zevran's influences was Spike from Buffy.

"Spicy salsa", "Would swing his hips to the song 'milkshake'" - to name a few.
One DA writer (Mary Kirby) even made a sims house with party memebers and she opened a flickr account to show some photos (someone discovered it by accident) and you have zevran drawing pink ogres etc.
Why couldn't Alistair be the bi romance? Ah, that's right - Gayder thinks he's too masculine to be gay..

(Gaider wrote both Alistair and Zevran.)And I suppose "barbarianbarbie" was quoted from the bioboards. It just shows you how incredibly stupid those people are. She's talking about his "swagger". She actually thinks they adjust the walking animation for each party member? I don't know if they even "fixed" females walking like males. So yeah, they'd make Zevran walk special just to be more gay.

Hell, all have the same attack animation, which is reused by all non-two-handed-weapon styles for every humanoid creature in the game.

Whether the animation of the swagger was intentional or not. David Gaider replied that there was some inspiration from the character Spike from the Buffy tv series.
I think the swagger was referring to his affectation bad boy persona. That he may not be a stereotypical good looking girly elf.

I'd be careful about listening to Tam as if he knew what he was talking about.
And insofar as Zevran goes, we haven't revealed much about him at all. There hasn't even been a clear screenshot of him. If someone wants to hastily decide that he's a stereotype of something based on a few humourous posts that some of us have made to tease the forumites, then by all means go hard.

Who's Tam? It's Tan, Dgaider, Tan.
I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings (well, not very sorry) by suggesting you write stereotyped characters. Obviously, cornered like a little virtual animal, you had to defend yourself saying I'm making things up. Can you deny the truth of what I said about the class specialisations, Loghain, those 4 being romance options and the spectacular achievement called "hopeless romantic"? You can't. Because you'd be a liar. So instead you said something banal and vague like "I'd be careful to listen bla bla", like you usually do.
While it's true you haven't talked about Zavran very much, all you have said about him indicates he's a flaming queen. Now, you said those were "jokes". But why would you joke about someone being effeminate if he's the exact opposite?

Why does there have to be romance in video games anyway? They'll never be written correctly and they'll never get personal enough. BG2 romances was the most forgettable part of the game to me. They were annoying, awkward, and waaay out of place most of the time.
Who wants this in the games they play? Was there some poll taken?
