I don't think we can successfully communicate on this issue, DA, but my original post came from the perspective of having owned a business for 11 years, that collapsed at the end.
We (foolishly) did over-value the respect of our peers and customers, to potentially devastating effect on our employees, creditors and others. Ultimately, that self-respect you talk about in terms of product integrity is worth little against the possibly ruinous effect on employees, family, creditors and so on. You can't hold your head high because your niche product fulfills your personal standards and your customers think you are pretty cool but you haven't paid your employee entitlements…or you have but you've lost your house to pay, which leaves your family a victim of your "artistic vision".
As Prime Junta said, a money making hobby is one thing but a real business needs to be run as a business and the true courage actually comes from making the intelligent compromises necessary to sustain the company.

This thread has been taken for a rollercoaster ride of topics. The thing that impresses me is that this was just a little newsbit on the collectors edition.
We started out with the original topic. Went from there to the disasterous effect of DLC. From there to talking about a business and now finally DA's attempt to get out of a silly comment he made.
Gotta say this has been fun. A bit silly at times, but still fun and informative.

Hell, what would I do, since I'm having to intern and go to grad school right now and thus am leeching off of the family accounts? It *is* putting your life on the line in a quite serious sense. Actually it is just like putting your life on the line. I think I've mentioned a few times that my mother owns and operates a motel basically in the middle of nowhere. Her bread and butter patrons come twice a year during picking season. If they stopped coming, then her life and mine would literally be destroyed because a chain of events would unfold for both of us. Not to mention the other people employed at her motel.
This is the reality of owning a business. If it goes down it ALWAYS has a huge impact on the people involved in it.
Oh and her business is in America, not Japan![]()

Finland is known to have some serious weightlifters….but that's just ridiculous.

It was also a random pic off the Internet. That said, that gym *does* seem to have a clientele of professional bodybuilders of both sexes, and the lantern-jawed ladies are… scary. Like some other species of primate, really.

Even the music is pathetically cliche.

Sounds like it could be from the game's soundtrack, so should be composed by Inon Zur. I thought it worked well enough, tho I like the celtic sounding songs from earlier videos better. Anyway, I thought this was overall much better than the Marilyn Manson ones.
First we had the LotR complaints, then Marilyn Manson broke the bank. Now we return once again to LotR.

It fits my vision of what the game will be - which is mainstream entertainment for the masses - with imitation being a key factor to ensure success. It's all good.
Tolkien is not the worst person to imitate, though I guess you could say he's not the most original choice either.

Tho Thedas itself isn't too similar to Midde-Earth and the story of the game probably won't be similar to LotR either. As I understand it, the battle against the Darkspawn works as a backdrop for the story's political power struggles.
Bioware also has said that this is their take on traditional fantasy, so it's no surprise there's some similarities to LotR, at least on the surface.

On the topic of DA music. They're using the same score over and over and over and over again for every damn promotional video. And no, I'm not talking about MM. I'm talking about the other song.
