Apparently Master Abrax knew the reagent for one of the spells, but I can't find the book that he says is "lying around" somewhere. Any tips? Thanks.

It's the big book right next to him, that he often reads. Right next to the alchemy table. You learn one of the recipes by reading that book (I think it's the transformation spell).
