Monastery : I'm getting attackted ?

chapter 1, level 5; i'm on a quest to talk to a mage? named illumin, or something close to that, at the monastery; i keep getting attacked by the recruits? when i approach the monastery ? i'm also on a quest for don esteban to harbor city; thanks
