Asking monks about lizardmen

I found the Eastern temple by accident (I'm in chapter 2 having signed up as a mage) and I managed to beat the lizard priest at the bottom. When I mentioned lizardmen to one of the looters he suggested asking the monks about them. However, when I teleported back to the temple none of the monks had a dialogue option for talking about lizardmen.
Can I ask about them or was it just an idle suggestion?

You technically don't get to ask about them till the end of chap 2 or start of chap 3, can't remember exactly.
