Which character should I choose?
November 20th, 2009, 07:16
I am refusing to go with rogue so do not recommend that char selection, I am beating the game alone and I am only doing it once, which character is proably the most worth the playthrough. I looked at the mage and he has alot of spells but it looked like he only had a few actual attack spells and they can get stronger but do they get bigger and add more effects like a thunderstorm or firestorm? The warrior I think would be the best but again is there alot of armor to choose from and weapons, basically I just want to know what character you had the most fun playing with and why? Thanks

What do you mean by "beating the game alone"?
If you're considering trying to go solo, I don't think it's possible.

Well, mages have the most options, and end up being far more varied than others. Also, you can look up interesting spell combos on the dragon age wiki (i.e Grease + Fire spells will light the ground on fire, or Storm + Blizzard + Spell something will create a MASSIVE lightning storm).
Other than that, I also enjoyed playing Dwarf Noble Warrior a lot, since the Origin really adds a good reason to play the game (other than being a Gray Warden).

If you are only going to play the game once then play as the Mage since the Mage can be warrior and in some cases better than the proper warrior class!
Mages get "Arcane warrior" as specialisation which allows them to wear heavy armour and use mage stats such as "magic" in place of "strength" etc. The down side of this is that spell cost more mana but you can easily offset that by putting points in willpower and using mana potions.
I have Morrigan kitted out in full plate using a sword and shield. Her melee stats as good as my warrior and to make matters worse she can cast all her spells!
You can get Arcane Warrior specialisation in the Dalies ruins.
Arcane Warrior will get my vote as the most overpowered class in DA!

They have significantly lower hitpoints, however, and no melee skills. Yes, they are powerful, but there are subclasses that are pretty unbalanced as well. For example, Spirit Healer is probably the most useful overall.

There are places where you are not allowed by the game to solo.

In any case, the game is muuuuucch more fun with a party. In fact, I wish I could have more than only 4 people in my party.

I agree, I'd really like to have 6. Wonder if anyone can make a mod to allow that!!
