Btw, am I dense or is there no way to travel from Ardan Peaks to Greenwort? They won't let me take the blimp yet. That's a loooong trek to pick up my shaman from the Freedom Isles

Yep, you have to complete the Dwarf quest before you can use the blimp/submarine. That's why that reserve skill comes in so handy. It gives you slots to store all the extra troops you can afford to buy.
I know how you feel about not wanting it to end. But you still have a good way to go before you run out of game.

Right now, I've switched to a group, consisting of sword fighters, archers, a few sea dogs (there are too few places where I can get new ones of them), orcish catapults & shamans.
I used this ugly fish and before that a *lot* of bears … I'm switching every now and then, experimenting on different layouts. I begin to replace a group when there are too few of them available or the group has been totally defeated within a battle.
Right now I'm planning to keep the catapults, because I developed the custom to use the spell - if possible, in the first round - to make enemy groups sensitive to fire, and *then* use the fire-ball of the catapult … As early as possible, to hurt enemy archers and similar groups first, and if possible as long as enemy troops are standing near to them.
To kind of "cheat" to make the enemies stay together within the first few rounds, I place a totem of death by the shaman near the enemies. This way they conceptrate their destruction potential on that totem and kind of "forget" to get near to my troups - not all of them, of course, but a part of them at least … This way I can hurt them even more with my catapults (look above) …

I've got a problem.
Any time I try to buy the spell "Armageddon" or "Dragon Killer" or how it is named in the English-language version of the game, I get the message: "not enough space in your spellbook" (roughly translated).
And that although that if I find a scroll, it is properly placed into the spellbook (like the "call of the necromancer" recently), and thus can be learned, too.
But these two … ?
Is this a bug or what ?

You need to sell some of the extra scrolls you have to free up space to buy it
It does confuse me that I can find a ton of them but try to buy over the amount you are supposed to have, it won't let you.
Pssst…how far and what level are you now?

I remember being quite confused about the scroll limit myself. I thought it was strange that you could still pick up scrolls from chests, but you couldn't buy them if you were over your limit.

Strong magic is - although I play a Paladin - one of my "three pillars" of fighting :
The box
The magic
The troops
I always use a combination of both, with first using spells that - if possible kill and weaken as many foes as possible in the first round, plus - if available the "box spirits" as well.
I often use the first few rounds to take out strong enemy archers and similar troops first, or to weaken them a little at least, because they can do the "first strike" anyway, meanwhile walking troops need to walk the whole way to my troops and can be weakened/slowed down meanwhile.
Floating troops are a bit more difficult to handle to me.
One of my only real criticisms of the game is for example, that the "special enemies" / sub-bosses don't have their own backstory.
In one case at the dwarves' "Underworld Sea" there is even a necromancer of whom the description says "he is payed by the [dwarven] King". But why does he attack me, then ?

I had thought that in the future I could play a paladin but was just drawing a blank on how I would proceed without heavy magic
Of course, I need to get Drakensang, the Witcher, Dragon Age and a slew of other games out of the way!

Playing on Normal difficulty was a good challenge using only troops and the Rage Box, not difficult though. I put lots of points into leadership, so my Paladin was actually more like a Warrior. I did use some magic during boss fights, just to counter spells.

I used a lot of magic pole axe, but that was about it. I used the rage box at every opportunity, but my troops definitely did the heavy lifting. Like JDR, my pally was developed with an awful lot of leadership.

Well, I finally got braver and have taken on "Match" and even one "Slightly Stronger"…maybe about 12 losses. I just don't see how people can do it on Impossible with no losses ugh. I have to suppress my staff and it's kind of kicking my rear
I could win but I would take a lot of losses on this fight. I can't seem to get those Gremlin towers down fast enough. Anyone ever have the Great Druid Staff and suppress it at level 15?

I remember stopping my KB:TL playthrough when presented with the prospect of having to suppress the great druid staff AGAIN after its morale hit zero (well the elven lands were pretty boring and grindy too.) The item morale thing is one of the few things I disliked about the game.
Anyway, KB:AP is frickin awesome, even if it lacks some of the goofy charm of TL (although it's still plenty goofy.) I highly recommend it to the non-digital copy averse. Some of the new units are really interesting and others have been improved. Although a certain level 2 elven unit is still a tad overpowered…

I was in Demonia or how it is called a few days ago - first big battle - almost everyone gone !
Now, I'm running out of orcish shamans … my far favourite unit …
I fear that I must look for some kind of replacement for them, or I'll be draining them out. Nothing is so far as good as their "magical axes" spell !
Plus the Totems are a very, very nice way to distract the enemy units !

I've been half-tempted to get a huge stack of trash troops (like Berserkers) and seeing how far I go
Then I won't care at all if they all die!
I really dread suppressing my staff…I don't know how anyone can go through the game with no losses on impossible when my Staff always gets the first round and I watch helplessly as they fry my troops*sniff*
Yep, I like the Shamans too…I'm still trying to figure out the best way to use them. I do use the totems as a distraction but because I only have one place to buy them, I tend to keep them out of harm's way, which is really silly

Actually, Celeste, that's how I fought a lot of difficult battles in my last playthrough—stash the expensive units in a castle and hire a lot of cheap high damage low defense stacks and not worry about losing them.
The other option is just to wait til you're higher level, do more damage and have better units. If you're taking that many losses suppressing the darn thing, switch to a different weapon til you get a bit higher level. You're being outmatched, and it actually costs more to replace your troop losses than to use a lower benefit item.
Or as the old saying goes, "Don't bring a knife to a gunfight."

Ahhh…I may do that now! I am only level 15 and the fight isn't…horrible. I just refuse to accept that many losses
I know I just did the that Wizard's Tower (Rezio?) and was rather mad that he wouldn't give me his staff. I should have beat him with my useless one
I was thinking of getting a replacement until I was a higher level, but there aren't any at the moment that offer intelligence but I can make do
