FireFox has been very 'laggy' lately and i've been struggling mostly with 'flash' pages, though i tried many tweeks with FF it seems i was stuck with it. So not wishing to appear contrary but nevertheless curious by Goraths remark "Chrome is not an option" - i installed 'Google Chrome" …and would you believe, it is simply great, it is so fast and furious that i'm sticking with it.
Flash sites i visit often such as -> http://news.sky.com/skynews
..are now a pleasure to visit…scrolls instantly with no lag - highly recommended!

Cheers Gorath….have a beer on me!

On topic..

Mike's RPG Center has quite a number of incorrections on the Gothic pages but for normal everyday gothic playing they won't spoil any fun.

Oh, it's quite possible Chrome is a great piece of software, but I'll never find out.

Here's a brand new example of what I meant. Today Google had to admit that they've also collected personal data via WLAN with their Street View cars. Fragments of emails and web pages are confirmed.

Google's business is collecting data. The more specific the better. When they have your data you lose control over what they're doing with it. How can you be sure Chrome doesn't transfer user data to a server somewhere in the world? The answer is you can't.

Yes i was aware of that news its been blasted across tv - it was the German Googles that caused the bother.

Payload data gathering is network (wiFi) usage monitoring i belive rather than personal info' retrieval…..?

This topic has gone a bit on sidetrack.

I agree that Chrome has poor privacy, ex. even if you type "a" on address bar, it will send that information to Google. That's why I still struggle with Firefox on desktop (gaming-) PC, but on my wife's netbook I installed Chrome and it's FAST, but lacks all that customization and AdBlock just isn't that good than in Firefox.

I'm seriously thinking about moving to Opera's camp, but I haven't tested it for years. How well does "Ad Blocking" work on Opera?

To conclude the discussion …

It works reasonably well. Right-click -> block content reliably catches the simpler ads. The really tricky stuff gets through though.

I've installed a small add-on which filters all flash centent and replaces it with a "play" icon. That's really useful because it catches both annoying flash sites and flash ads.
