Default Diablo 3 - The Original Design

This one is just for historical record. Kotaku has 17 screens from the original 2005 design of Diablo III from Blizzard North - before they were shut down and the development rebooted. At a glance, the screens look very much like Diablo II, which might be as good or bad thing depending on your perspective.
More information.

Although the screens above looks promising, I don't have a problem with more colorful Diablo. I'm not against the new graphics style. After Blizzard's decision to stick to the fixed isometric camera, they won my heart. Whenever I'm watching a Diablo 3 gameplay movie my mouse hand twitching involuntary. And this time new Diablo's roleplaying side will be more powerful than its predecessor it seems. Also, Diablo 3 will be able to revive the popularity of good old isometric RPGs both in gamers and publishers. So my expectations are high from Diablo 3, I hope I'll not disappointed.

I am so very glad they moved on. If I want to replay D2, I can always do so. I am ready for a new experience, and the direction they have taken the D3 development looks to be just that.

Shame, this could have been released approx. 6 years earlier….
But now we can get overgrown weapons and gay rainbows in our dark RPG.

There were a lot of complaints to start with but after watching many gameplay vids and seeing screenshots, I think they have it right. Dark environment, dark characters, colourful magics.
