I saw that a few months ago and sent a link to my brother about it. I may have to buy one!

I think one of the things I would do if I ever won the lottery would be to hunt down and find working machines for all the classic systems: C64, Apple IIe, Amiga, 286, 386, 486, etc. I would have a nerd room like no other!

My wife will hate you for this. I already have the i86'es. And a Z80 CPU thing running CP/M. I realize now that I also need to get me a C64, Amiga, a few Apples. And some consoles. Storage space shouldn't be a problem, I just need to occupy the part of the living room I don't use much, but where she (now temporarily) has a lot of her (now insignificant) things.

Awesome.

See this is why you need a man cave. Or as my wife calls it The Nerd Room. Wife has no say on what I put in the Nerd Room, just as I have no say what she does with her art studio (or most of the rest of the condo!).

Mine is about to be split into half Nerd Room, half baby room, but one day I will have my full Nerd Room again!

Yeah, I said that, too. About 12 years ago, and counting…

Said pibbur, who now owes my employer a new monitor to replace the one I just sprayed with Pepsi.

I've done well in conditioning my wife to the idea of the Nerd Room. She's realized that I'm much more agreeable when I have my own space that I can retreat to for about an hour per night.

Our plan is to move back to Texas in somewhere between 5-10 years. We'll stay in our condo at least 5 years, but if it looks like we'll be in NYC another 5 after that, we probably will look at a house somewhere. If that occurs, I will be making sure there is a basement that I can finish and carve off part for my use!

Once we get back to Texas, we'll probably end up in a fairly cheap cost of living area, so I don't think space will be a problem.

The Nerd Room is a must for my sanity!

Fair enough. I've got a very nice 1600x1200 LCD I no longer use, you can have that one. Just give me a call, so I'll be at home when you come and pick it up.

As for the Nerd Room, which I personally prefer to call my Den, I agree - it's a must. But you see, when you collect something, you also want to show it, and since almost no one else visits my den, I decided that our living room would be the perfect place. I haven't told my wife about this yet, but that can only be a formality. A Note to the Watch: if I don't log on for the next 2 weeks, you know why.

As for the babies, and more important, what they become: At first their adorable, like Temptress' little one. Inconvenient and messy, yes. But still adorable. Give them 10-12 years and they become increasingly annoying. And by "annoying" I mean ANNOYING! Eventually, possibly after some serious hinting from their superiors, they decide to move out (at around level 20). However, they'll be coming back again and again for visits, expecting their rooms to be as they left them (more tidy and cleaned, of course). Then you realize that those five minutes of ecstacy came at a price.

My dad used to threaten my brother and I with military school. We weren't angels, but it kept us in line pretty good!

Sounds like you've got the right idea. From my own experience, a basement is by far the best location for a man-cave. Nice and cool in the summer.. easy enough to heat in the winter. No basements in Texas though…

I have an Amriga 500 and an Atari XT, but they are sitting at a friends house in another country. I found a colour monitor for my Atari too.

I wonder if this P/C64 has an Amiga OS or is compatible with C128 software.

Says it just has the C64 emulator, but it should be able to run any emulator.

Yep Though the Vic Pro is very attractive as well. I like the thought of putting a classic C64 side by side with a new C64. I just wonder how hot it will get when running games. Or for that matter, how comfortable it will be playing CoD:UO or DDO on such a keyboard.

Being single by choice, my whole house is potentially a nerd room. If I wasn't lazy, at any rate. I do intend, one of these days, to construct a large custom home theater for my collection of consoles, computers, and games. However, that comes after building my own house, rather than renting, and buying an M4 Sherman tank for the morning commute.

Strangely enough, I also discovered this website today and couldn't believe my eyes at first. They're certainly aesthetically pleasing models to look at.

I have two C64s; a Breadbin and a C64C model. Plus 3 A500's. So no real room for this manner of beast. But it will be very interesting to see how it goes developmentally and sales wise in the coming months.

Great guns. I was traumatized enough seeing a C64 with the DVD logo on it and claiming it could use BluRay. Now you're going to have a C64 with DVD logo and playing Atari games on it!?!? I need to go lie down for awhile…

I think the C64 emulator part is actually part of the Amiga OS they're working on. Currently, they ship with Ubuntu 10.4, as their own OS isn't available. Which, most likely, has a working C64 emulator available. Or at least you can run WinVice under WINE.
