Enough with the complaining
May 30th, 2011, 14:42
I have to get this off my chest. I am just so sick and tired of people bitching. Really. Complaining about graphics. Complaining about length of time. Complaining they cant install the game on 5 freaking computers for christ sake. Daggerdale forums are what set me off. There are some issues with this game. There is no denying that or defending it. It simply should not have been released with the bugs it has. But complaining about the graphics and the length of time it takes to finish the game? Its a $15 game. Do people expect top-notch graphics and a 60 hour playtime for a game at that price point? On another forum a person was bitching that they couldnt install a $20 game on all 4 of their kids computers and theirs as well. I don't think a game should allow totally unlimited installs on unlimited computers. It should allow unlimited number of installs on 3 machines. I think that is fair. People who like to wipe the system fresh every 6 months should be able to do so and reinstall without a problem. 3 installs and thats it is ridiculous, I agree. But unlimited? Come on. I understand that everybody is entitled to their opinion. And I think the biggest issue with daggerdale is because it has the D&D name attached to it, similar to arcania with the Gothic tag. That I can understnd to a point. But bitching about a game when there is a demo to try and forums and reviews all over the internet telling you about it first is ridiculous. I mean one person said the reviews said a certain game was bad and buggy. He said his friend who had the game said it was bad and buggy and that he would not like it. The person at the game store told him he knew his tastes and that he would hate this game and it was buggy as hell too. He buys it then bitches because the game is bad and buggy. I mean seriously wtf?? Some people seriously need to think before they type. And I am SO tired of people bitching a game isnt an MMO. Jesus christ there are tons of them around. Some people (like me) prefer to play alone. Am I not entitled to some games just for single players, as you are for your online ones? Sorry for the long rant, I could go on even more. But I will stop now. Thoughts?

Thoughts?
From my point of view, you have too much invested in the opinions of other people. If you like a game - then what does it matter what other people think of it?
Oh, I understand the reaction when people bitch like spoiled children - but in the end, that's something we all do on occasion. Also, I think it's key to realise that if people are bitching - it may well be that they have a point, based on how they operate and perceive things. It's not necessarily about being spoiled - and sometimes people have tastes that you just can't fathom. It's the way of things.
Personally, I can't really be bothered when people love/hate games that I feel differently about. They're entitled, you know?

Read this and you'll have a better understanding on the matter, perhaps : http://www.rpgwatch.com/forums/showp…&postcount=193
One thing I see since 10 years now is that people use (yes, use as a tool !) forums as a tool for getting negative emotions out.
In the forums of a magazine, there once developed the term of the "infamous Friday afternoon" as the main source of … well, anger, hate, angry discussions … Just like verbal hooligans on the net.
I often believe tht it is rather the younger generations which do so; the older the majority of the forum's inhabitants and the more "cultivated" a forum's culture is, the more silent, thoughtful and … yes, sane discussions go on.
Which on the other hand implies for me that I should rather stay away from these forums, because it implies in my opinion that
the younger the main audience of a forum is, the more the hatred, anger and uncontrolled feelings (in general) are disposed there.

You're complaining about people complaining. The cycle continues!
And well, people have the right to complain about things. Daggerdale sounds like it has many complaint-triggers.

I do not like that you do not use paragraphs in your post.

Actually. I apologize for the whole thread. I was in a great deal of pain this morning and incredibly frustrated. Not making any excuses. Mods feel free to delete thread if you wish.

Why delete it? It seems a lot of people (pretty much everybody except you
) are having a lot of fun.

Me and my 2 sons are actually enjoying daggerdale very much and have yet to run into the bugs mentioned in threads. But we also new it was a fun little hack-n-slash and not an involved d&d game.
As for complaining I would agree with you to a point. I was actually ridiculed for opening a thread for positive comments only. Which by the way got 1 positive reply before the bitching about having a thread only for positive replys started. I think it got 3 or 4 different posters and everyone else ignored it seems if people can't complain they don't have much to say.
Having said that I feel that forums are used mostly for getting things of your chest (much like you did.) and I personally have done my fair share of complaining. But yes a little more positivity and light heartedness wouldn't hurt.

About that Daggerdale - how long is it? How much content? You can run thru the game in about 8-10 hours more if you play different characters.I have heard some people getting thru it in 6 but they probably ignore all the sidequests which their aren't many. Some people are just grinding for items which will extend playtime. Kind of a short Diablo, I felt the graghics were better then I expected but they cut corners with the voices.
Like the poster above, i have primarily played with my kids and its fun. I have the PC version and it hasn't been buggy for me. I just have seen a few armors missing textures. The devs say they are working on a patch and it will probably be done in time for the Steam digital releases.

Unfortunately, that's just enough content for me to invest in such a game. I like my games meaty.

Hey, this actually looks pretty interesting. I thought it was some sort of tile-based indie RPG when I read the title, but it looks more like a Dark Alliance affair for cheap. I might pick this up for one of the consoles! (And complain lots about it on the forums afterwards.)
On second hand, the game seems the have gotten universally bad reviews, citing bugs and bland gameplay. I think I'll pass…
