Default Has anyone had trouble running the game?

June 5th, 2011, 07:14
So I just installed the game (I bought the English DVD version) and tried to run it. I get this message: Unexpected Error Encountered. File:

You can click Yes or No but that's all it says, just "File:"

So I ran the auto update it says I have the latest version. I installed again same thing, I had a look through all the websites in the quicklaunch and I can't find anything about tech support.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Windows XP Service Pack 3
AMD Athlon 4600+
3 Gigs RAM
Geforce GTS 250

Please take a look here : http://forum.dtp-entertainment.com/viewforum.php?f=249

It's the official forum about technical problems with the game.

But first, make sure to do 2 things :

1. install the Direktx version that came with the game
2. install the C++ runtime package that came with the game.

Ah that's just what I was looking for thank you. I installed the Directx installation on the game disk but I don't know what the C++ runtime package is.

Thank you though, I appreciate that.

There should be several runtime packages (just like direktx) on the game disc, I assume.

They are usually located in special folders on the disc.

Thanks again. It was my own fault actually I'd turned off Direct Draw Acceleration and 3D Acceleration to play Icewind Dale 2 (it causes slowdowns) and had forgotton. *chagrin* I turned em back on and it works.

But I appreciate your help.
