Versions and Russian language?

Hi,

I played Xenus 2 and enjoyed it a lot. Now I want to play Precursors but am confused by all the versions. Please correct me where I am wrong.

I want to play a version that is:

• preferably in Russian in both on-screen text and voice
• that I could use an official patch on
• that I could use some unofficial patches on

The versions I have found so far are:


1. Digital Download from gamersgate:

• This looks like an English version, and from what I understood there are no Russian on-screen text or voiceovers included.
• There seems to be an unofficial download for Russian voiceovers, not sure about on-screen text.
• Version is already at v1.1+?
• Unofficial patches (1.2+) are made for this version?

2. Digital Download from gamepitstop.ru or yuplay.ru:

• Does have Russian text and voiceovers by definition
• I cannot find any download for the official 1.1 patch, all seem to be for the DVD version?
• Unofficial (1.2+) patches cannot be applied?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to play the game with Russian voice overs and texts, the only way to go will be the .ru versions. The Unofficial Patches can be applied to them but of course they will turn them into English versions…

My understanding is that if you download from .ru then the game is already patched to 1.1, thus they only released a patch for the DVD version.

So it sounds like .ru is the way to go, you'll get the best Russian version that way, and I think it's cheaper too.

So Gamersgate + the huge unofficial Russian files download will not give proper Russian text and voiceovers? My impression was that the unofficial patches also fixed quite a few quest bugs. How broken will my .ru game be without these fixes? I remember having some gamestopping quest bugs in games like Brigade E5 and sequel.

are you guys sure the russian digital versions are 1.1?
and are the english digital versions 1.1?

That's true, but I don't speak Russian, so how should I fix the original game?

No idea about the Russian versions, but the Gamersgate release is 1.1 and I guess the Beamdog one should be as well.

xenus 2 on gamergate is 1.1 also?

I have heard that this is indeed not version 1.01 but still 1.0! I will include all the 1.01 folders in the next UP because of this, but I can't include the executabes because of the differen copy protection schemes.
