You know, I really try not to get into these last word things. It's truly a no-win situation for everyone. But every once in a while someone is just so god damned pig headed and cheeses me off enough that I admit I get suckered in.

*sigh*

After the post #10 I wanted to make a post about this thread inevitably spiralling into meta-fest, but havenīt done it, cos it occurred to me it would be unfair to be meta-meta that early.

As for the last word "phenomenon", itīs quite an interesting one and I have to say I enjoy the uncertainty which sometimes comes into play when I leave someoneīs response to my response without response.

I didn't have high hopes for this thread initially, but it's turning out ok in terms of various insights into the subject

I don't really see how this is a complicated subject to be honest.
As I understand it, the desire to have the last word is just a product of tenacity.
Frankly, I think you are over-analyzing it DArtagnan.

I'm not really over-analysing it

I'm reading the thoughts of people as they're articulated, so that I can learn a bit about different perceptions.

A subject doesn't have to be complicated to be interesting to talk about.

Well, not to me anyway.

Also, I don't agree that it's "just about tenacity". People aren't "just stubborn" - there is always a reason and I happen to find it interesting to hear what you guys think.
