Bolag's Mace and Shieldbreaker FTW

Lydia can hold her own even against mages with this combo. Even though she's a two-handed specialist, she never gives up the mace if I give her two-handed weapons. Any warriors playing with this combo?

I wanted to use shieldbreaker together with dawnbreaker but after getting the ebony blade which made me invincible in the early lv20s I decided to stick to generic gear.

Iīve given her Volendrung.
If by shieldbreaker you guys mean Spellbreaker, thatīs what I used myself for quite a while.

If you gave someone the mace and the Star of Azura would they use the mace to fill the star to recharge the mace …? Or do followers not use soul gems? They certainly do use staves and scrolls as the poor wolf I tried to shoot found out when Lydia (I think it was her) summoned a frost atronach via scroll to stomp on it when I was first playing.

Yeah, they fill the gems for ya, but I find that if I kill a creature it might give me a common soul, but if Lydia kills it, it's almost always petty. I haven't tested this in a while, so I should check again.
Spellbreaker is the shield's name. I had a brain fart during that post.

I been playing a Mace/shield warrior, I really love what the have done with the shield in Skyrim, granted at the start of the game the shield is pretty much like Oblivion but as you invest more and more perks into block it become so useful and fun to play.
As for spellbreaker, I had that shield for a while now and its just plain awesome, only time I don't like it is when you get bombarded with elemental spells and the ward keep breaking and constantly staggering you.
I don't really like the mace of molag bal, sure its a powerful weapon you can get at a low level, but with 100 smiting my ebony mace do 78dmg vs malag bal's mace at 67dmg, the enchantment is crap to in my opinion, I'll take a fire dmg or absorb stamina enchantment over damage magicka/stamina/soul trap.

There should have been an option in the molag bal quest to save/free the priest, even something as banal as having Molag pull some BS "punishment" by summoning a bunch of foes to kill the priest and kick your ass, same as in another daedra's quest.
