Skyrim: There's always something new…
January 30th, 2012, 05:30
I've been playing Skyrim since release and I still come across stuff I've never seen/noticed before. For instance, tonight I took Marcurio, the destruction mage from Riften with me. The dude is knowledgeable about Nordic Ruins and has some interesting tidbits when visiting dwarven ruins, but he's quite jumpy when you take him into a mine. He keeps talking about needing fresh air
I'm going back and making sure to take followers into one of each type of dungeon. Mjoll knows quite a bit about Draugr and tells quite a bit about her life growing up. I've also run across the Companions several times as they're traveling to and from adventures. Kinda neat.

Regarding Mjoll, it's funny how she, almost laughing, tells about the cutpurse who tried to attack her. Even after hearing it n times.
Reminds me of Angua@Discworld. Attacking her is considered self-inflicting injury (one fine day I may tell you why).
pibbur who in the shape of Erilar married Mjoll.

We are Pibbur! We are not to be taken seriously!

An amusing thing about Mjoll, is that she has a quest to retrieve a sword that she will never use. Grimsever is a fairly cheap one-handed weapon and Mjoll is a two-handed specialist and will use a plain axe over Grimsever. Sometimes Bethesda loses sight of the details in their Magnum-Opus sized games….

If you are talking about locations, then you are right. But Skyrim's characters are boring, soulless and dull. They have zero personality, zero background, zero everything, just like Fallout 3. I really miss FNV's deep and realistic characters here. Perhaps Bethsoft and Obsidian could come to an agreement just like they did with FNV and we could get one of the best Elder Scrolls games ever.

Except the part where Skyrim is on a completely new and separate engine from the last Elder Scrolls and undeniably contains new features not present in the previous installment but it is a good game.

Some of them have nothing to say and other's have copious amounts. Don't bother taking the female mage at Winterhold. She never says a word. Mjoll is fun, Marcurio is cool, Lydia is kinda dull but I still love her, and I'm getting ready to try the priest/mage that can be found in Dawnstar. I still need to take Marcurio to a dwemer ruin too.

Another funny thing about Mjoll, is her tagalong in Riften will follow her to any non-hostile location. I married her and he moved to Breezehome, I made her a member of a secret guild and somehow he's allowed to follow her there too. It'd be really cool if Delphine would just cut him down when he arrives. I left her standing outside of Hrothgar and he was waiting too when I came out

Thanks for the info.
I too found the priest/mage at Dawnstar intriguing for some reason. I may try out Mjoll, too, when I play my berserker.
For my future destruction/conjuration mage, it seems no companion except conjurations is the best way to avoid many reloads for death of follower from friendly fire.

I "just" (about a week ago) visit Falkareath for the first time since the DB was in the neighborhood… And I am still finding the occasional different and interesting locations.
