Beamdog Working on Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition?

Yep, that's the reason I've never kept any of those hi res mods for the Infinity Engine. They made the game unplayable and unreadable on a laptop. Now, if you project onto a big wall, that may be different.

What i would really like to see is improvements in areas that sorely need it (for remake/"enhanced edition" purposes, anyway), such as the crude animations and very poorly detailed character models. The artwork is fantastic as is, so i see no reason to change that aspect. I would love to see the IE games reach the visual level of, say, Divine Divinity at the very least - a game that I personally consider to be the best looking pure 2D isometric game ever. If they leave these mediocre areas untouched, then what's the point? (Aside from the obvious cash-in factor
) Playing in higher resolutions would be nice i suppose, but without anything tangibly improved in the visual/presentation department, the higher resolutions would do nothing for me. If they leave the animations and character models in their vanilla state, I will not be interested at all - I'd rather just play the originals if that were the case.

@Dart
Yeah, I tried that with Plansescape, and it didn't help enough. Especially with the too small text. Maybe the mods have improved since 7 years ago or so…

There are mods to increase the font size independent of anything else, it's really not the font that is the issue anymore. The issue is that your characters and art are tiny. That's all there is to it. Running at a lower resolution and using your monitor or video cards blurry and terrible scaling is not optimal- in fact it's a bad suggestion. What about running in Windowed mode? You got some sort of scaler mod to fix that? Didn't think so. Having to run a game in a separate full screen mode at all is very 90's. If Beamdog are re-rendering the art so that it is big enough to be used in a REAL MODERN resolution, then YES this is very worth it.

Installing BG Trilogy, for instance - is a piece of cake.
I know that people are scrambling to spend money on yet another cash-in, as if it's some miraculous new and shiny BG - instead of a slightly modified iteration - but if you actually WANT to play BG in high-res and with several strong improvements - it's already possible and quite easy to do.
I don't know about others but i'm not expecting a great big new and shiny world to explore. I've played at least 1 of the IE games every year since they were released, vanilla and with various mods. So some improved graphics and a little additional content will be well worth my money. If you don't want to contribute to this "cash in" as you call it, then don't.

If I can pixel hunt with decent graphics for Ultima VII under DOSBox, there is no technical reasons that it shouldn't be similarly possible for Infinity engine games. I had to give up the high resolution though and just use scalars.

However, they are working on a new feature called "Big Picture Mode" which looks promising.
