DayZ - Persistent Zombie Survival Arma2 mod
May 21st, 2012, 13:45
Bought and installed the clunky Arma2, installed the mod …..
It 220km sq of an eastern bloc forested state, with other player survivors whom you may or may not trust (and who WILL kill you for food), zombies and towns to explore. Its in Alpha so its very clunky, and the Arma 2 engine is clunky as well, but its pretty good (if you can get on to a server).
Night is pitch black and you only start with about 8 flares …… and its all realtime. So play on European servers during the day!

I liked Arma, except that it permanently lets my GTX-570 fans run… DayZ is great concept. Incredibly hyped (Steam#1 again because of the mod!), you won't be able to connect these days. What I see most of the time is "Receiving data"…

The developer upgraded the version which included more aggressive server handling - meaning you wait around a lot less on those screens.
Still not decided on it - can only play when I get home from work, and many European servers are getting dark. Its very atmospheric though.
