EYE Divine Cybermancy
December 27th, 2011, 12:53
Well, since Kodex is down I cannot ask my fellow bros on our glorious site, so I'll do that here (and by the way Watch bros can join too): Anyone is up for playing EYE's campaign in multiplayer? I'd like to get a team of four bros, including me, or even more numerous. I think we should start with new characters, although it's yet to be discussed.

I'm in.
New characters - yes.
Voice chat or no?
And don't use any pony names or mention ponies in any way, shape or form while in game.

FFS when organizing games on the codex(our refuge counts as the codex for the moment) you have to say if pirates can play or not. RTFM
If there was a way to play with a low level cap, highest difficulty and some rules(no breaking that mission where one can just kill dutch and end it under five minutes, for example and specialised retarded builds…nevermind, fuck that mission it is meant to be broken) it could be interesting as shit would get sadistic in the last two or three levels, I guess any other shit to do in the game would be boring for everyone who already finished it, the fucking "hold position" parts for example
Either that or attempt to LARP stealth with level one cloak
also, to whoever is playing for the first time : the first playthrough is more enjoyable solo, especially since no one would be discussing the plot as you kill shit
Anyway, there's some chance of me joining later, don't count

I just picked this one up for around $2 during the steam winter sale.
Didn't even realize it has a multiplayer feature.

EYE is a very good game that surprised me. Very good character customisation/enhancement, intriguing story, fun shooting mechanics and a large world to play with. My only grumble is the story presentation and presentation in general, and the lack of a proper user manual. Otherwise a unique, innovative and fun game.

What would you compare it to, game-wise? Something like ME, perhaps?

I have not played anything similar to EYE to compare, but you have a hub or temple headquarter where you talk to your commander or mentor and they give you missions to complete over various areas. You can also go through side missions in this hub if you wish so. In each area there can also be sub-missions that you can undertake. As you kill enemies and complete missions, you collect the game currency which enables you to carry out research, upgrade your cybernetic body and buy new weapons. When you kill enemies during missions, some of them drop briefcases which has material that you can use to research for new cybernetic enhancements and new weapons. You can specialise in strength, stealth, hacking .. etc.
How to acheive your main/side objectives in each area is up to you: you can 'hack' your enemies, sentries .. etc. to do your work, you can use stealth or you can use brute force - it is up to you. The levels or mission areas are quite large and varied and the physics are quite good as expected for a Source engine game.
It is quite unique. As I have said, the only problem is finding your way around the complicated UI and figuring out how to do the research, buy new cybernetic upgrades and weapons, how to hack. Once you know this, the game is addictive and fun.
Forgot to add that there is a lot of lore in the Archive and from talking to people and is very mysterious and grabbing. I just wish that it is presented better.
