Just noted this on Massively:

EOC had a "prototype" funded on Kickstarter some 10 months ago. They had some very ambitious (some might say over ambitious) plans for a sandbox MMO. This seems like an indication that the project is unlikely to get off the ground. Personally I pulled my contribution due to noticing some anomalies in their planning.

One can never be careful enough with MMOs.
I'd be very happy if there weren't any MMO crowdfunding projects because, honestly and no matter how angry you'll be with me saying it loud, they all look like a scam to me.

I think this isn't so much a scam, as a bunch of passionate amateurs, who don't have the experience or resources to pull it off. Many of their design ideas were way too intricate and complicated ever to see the light of day.

Looks fishy to me, and I'll say this about mmo's: I'd never pay for one nowadays unless I'm really familiar with the company behind it. If something looks shady, it often is, these days.
