Am I the only one who enjoyed the Bards Tale remake?
Wasteland 2 will be ok.

The combat system is a let down but I'm still looking forward to playing it. As long as the writing/C& are good throughout I won't regret backing it.

If only they were to really go nostalgic and include a paragraph book
At least that would minimize voice acting.

I also backed it, but not enough to get beta access.
I still plan on trying to play the original Wastland first.

If you backed it at any level that gets the game, then I believe you now have beta access.
I played the game for about 7 hours last week and enjoyed it a lot. I restarted a bunch of times to get a feel for all the skills and the combat.

Wasn't he the guy in charge of Interplay as it started going under because of console gaming focus, once upon a time?
He was also the guy who did the abysmally bad Bard's Tale remake, right?

Yes, both of which show that consoles are not his strength (since Bard's Tale was designed for consoles). Which is why it's a good thing he's now able to return to the platform he works best with.
Ok, I suppose it's theoretically possible.
I can't say I'm all that confident - but that's ok.
Anyway, the game isn't a disaster by any means. To me, it's a big fat "meh" - but that might mean it's great for others.

Looking forward to the game, my expectations are not super high though. I'll be happy if it's good, thrilled if it's great.

The little I played of it felt alot like fallout tactics. I liked fallout tactics. I'll like Wasteland 2

I've played a little and they have added a lot of convenience features to the gameplay which has helped the experience a lot. Things like 'distribute all' so that gear goes to the ranger with the right skill helps a lot. Camera works good for me and the interface is so much better now. You really have to use your skills like alarm disarm and lock picking. Every area seems like it has a use for a wide variety of skills.
If I have a caution it is that the combat can be quite challenging because different enemies use different attacks and have different abilities requiring you to change up your tactics from encounter to encounter. Save often is my advice. The game can be overwhelming at times but worth the investment I reckon.
