Shadow of Mordor - PC Performance Analysis
October 3rd, 2014, 07:39
DSO Gaming has a look at how Shadow of Mordor performs on the PC.
Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor was a highly anticipated game. A couple of months ago, Monolith surprised everyone with the game’s PC requirements. And if that wasn’t enough, just mere days prior to its release, the team claimed that the game would need huge amounts of VRAM in order to be enjoyed even at High settings. So, after the controversy surrounding its enormous PC requirements, it’s time to see how this bad boy performs on the PC platform.More information.

conclusion
All in all, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor performs great on the PC. The game scales well on multiple CPUs, and despite Monolith’s claims, it is perfectly playable on dual-core CPUs that support Hyper Threading. While gaming we did not notice any mouse acceleration side-effects, so that’s another point for Monolith. And while Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor requires a high-end GPU to shine, Monolith has added a lot of graphics options to tweak in order to achieve playable framerates.

Not sure about conclusion but I saw on Total Biscuit vid that in order to play the game on Ultra you must have 6Gb VRAM.
He also shown that some (now I can't remember which) setting if maxed chokes the game and drops FPS too much.
And he played it on Titan.
I'm of course not buying that game for other reasons that have nothing to do with performance, but just so you know what TB had on his PC.

I'm playing with a titan with all settings maxed and ultra textures downloaded and installed and average 84 fps. not sure what setting would be choking his system unless he's running at a very high resolution. I'm playing at 1920x1080.
I've seen people post that they are running ultra textures with just 4gb vram. Not sure if they are aware though that you can enabled ultra textures but wont really be running them unless you download them and install them which is an additional 3.7gb download.
