Do we want turning PC into a console?
Dunno about you, but I don't want that. Not now, not EVER.
Don't bother to explain. I told you already if win 10 fails and win 7 stays the most used OS out there, you can forget game developers wasting cash on DX12. Who'd they sell game to? You and?
Not me.
Oh and btw… The sacred consoles can do shit with AC:Unity.
On the other hand, "inferior DX on PC" runs the game flawlessly.

DX 12= AMD's Mantle.
If you have older, or low end hardware, you should care about DX12. AMD forced MS hand. It will dramatically lower the overhead of the API. That's good for all us gamers.

By the way I'm PC gamer all the way, I didn't own console in 14 years, and I don't plan to, but consoles are better with using it's hardware than the PC is, it's a proven fact.

Update;
AMD and MS have stated that Richard Huddy misspoke when he said that win 7 won't support DX 12. MS said It's not definite, but not out of the question. So win 7 users, don't panic …………….. yet.
Except that I think you might as well start panicking. Win7 is getting pretty old and isn't likely to be getting any more updates of any kind other than security fixes.
Except maybe you shouldn't panic. What little I've heard about Win10 sounds good.

DX12 will not matter until the next-gen of consoles are being rolled out. Since Xbox One hardware is not DX12 prepared ( at least not as far as anyone knows ).
The standard will be DX11 for a long time to come.

I guess we'll see somewhat similar to what happened when WiXP didn't get support for DX10/DX11: DX12 support will slowly gain support by developers, but they will also support older DX versions. similar to optional support for DX9 in several current games.
Unless DX12 is so different from pre DX12 that this does not make sense. Or that I for other reasons don't know what I'm talking about.
pibbur who remembers he did not know what he was talking about back in '87.

I find it difficult to predict anything here. It could be significant - but who really knows. It depends on what MS does to support it and motivate development in that direction.
