A word of warning, respecing seems bugged and locks up the game, to avoid that (till it's patched), do plan your character(s):

Yeah, I've always been against being able to do that in an RPG. I'm guessing this was included to bring even more appeal to the mainstream masses.

I love how a Respec guide gets to be news and the fact that the game can possibly corrupt your saves and essentially become unplayble ,does not.

Also take a look at Total biscuit's Dragon Age pc port report at 17:00 minute and check how much Bioware 'loves' pc gaming by creating a controller oriented tactical camera.

I'd read about the respec in at least one review. There's respec tokens on the vendor at the smith in your base. Optional for sure, but it's there and not a big deal. One reviewer I read said you would likely want to respec because you and your companions get specialty skill trees later in the game.
I don't see it as a big deal. I switched over the the enchantress over the starter mage companion once I got her and she was "blank" and I got to lay out her skills based on what I'd learned from his skills and my own PC mage's skills. Not that different from a respec, really.
