Same here. I really like the style of his games.
Additionally, the games work well on my iPad. So now I have access to high quality games when travelling, even if I choose not to bring along my heavy ROG gaming laptop, which is named "igor". (No, I don't use the pad for playing at home, except for a 5 minute of mah jongg or two).
pibbur who probably still will bring along igor quite often, but maybe not when he has take with him ol' pc65655 (his job laptop) as well. Or when travelling with the wife.
PS. Wives have an annoyng tendency to question every piece of equipment (except shoes and extra trousers) brought to a suitcase ("do you really need that?"). DS.

They just made a facebook post that they are looking for beta testers:
https://www.facebook.com/SpiderwebSoftware
The direct Link the application is here:
http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/testing/beta_test.html
Just be aware that this is a "Real" Beta and no Early Access stuff, so something is expected from those who apply.

Fully agree. It's time to at least get in the 21st century regarding graphics in those games, sheesh. It's not 1997 anymore.
Not interested in any of those games until I see a new graphics engine.
I'm hugely disappointed in the direction Avadon took, but Avernum is decent hack and slash fodder.

I think he could do better. He could go to kickstarter and give incentives to spend more on the game/company than required. He has the fanbase which would support that. Small but strong.
Not quite getting what you mean with hack and slash fodder as I see Spiderweb games some of the games furthest away from "hack and slash"
But I also didn't like the direction Avadon took. Though the story idea itself was extremely good.

He said himself "if I took out a loan to make the graphics slightly better, 99% of people would look at it, dismiss it as being ugly, and go back to playing Skyrim".
His business model has allowed him to survive for 20 years by catering to a small niche and he will keep exactly at it.
I really didn't think the story in Avadon was that good, it was generic and not very inspired to me. Geneforge was much better even if it was corny.

Well, there are games like Eschalon or Xulima which look retro and still look much better without being "ugly". What his games do not have at all is any form of lighting, which also makes a huge difference.
Whatever, while I like his games, there is a lot of stuff he writes I don't agree with.
What I liked about the story of Avadon was that everything made perfect sense in a way / everything was extremely thought out and you were in the position to maintain freedom by helping a police state, loved it when Redbeared asked for your opinion. There wasn't really a right or wrong, good or evil. What I did not like were the companion missions which appeared too generic.
