DA:Inquisition - 6 Places To Revisit
December 28th, 2014, 16:56
Bioware has a new update on the DA:I webage about 6 places to revisit in the game.
You may have noticed that the open world of Thedas is pretty large. In fact, there’s even a chance that some of you reading this have yet to leave the Hinterlands. Although the Hinterlands is indeed a massive area with lots to do, you might be surprised to discover that it’s not even the largest location in the game!More information.
Perhaps you’ve completed Dragon Age: Inquisition and think you’ve explored all these areas from top to bottom… but have you? We sat down with the level design teams and asked them to share stories behind their creation. Do you know why they call it the Hissing Wastes? Do you know which level was inspired by the Canyonlands of southern Utah? Did you find the hermit’s hut? We’ve got the answers to these questions and more!

I picked this game up and well so far I just dont' quite get what I am doing. I think I've played 3 hours and all I'm doing is looking for shards - the war room is divided into two 1/2 but I have no clue why - so far the missions seem er well boring? Certainly is a lot of vertical movements hunting for shards

But then of course you'd be missing a lot of the exploration, which is really the best part of the game IMO.

Do not, under any circumstances, leave Hinterlands.
The game is: Hinterlands.
Unless you'd jump from a bridge because others say so. Or if you'd try LSD right now because others say it's so good compared to whatever life you're living.

Yes leave the Hinterlands or you'll miss out on important storylines.
My question is… Why doesn't the sun ever set in the Hinterlands? NPC's never sleep!

But how can i know which quest is a 'main' quest and do i want to focus on orlais and ferelden (somewhere I must have missed why we have these two regions to consider) and how the heck can i know which quest is a 'main' quest. Btw I'm level 4 already so i must be 20% done !

bleh I was looking at my journal the game crashed (first one for me). I have inquisotro path; the inner circle; the fallow mire; forbidden oasis; the hinterlands and the storm coast !

Crap, I'm level 6 already and just got out of hinterlands recently
I say leave Hinterlands when you've uncovered map about 40% (or maybe less) or you get too high level like me and get burnt out… You can't finish exploring hinterlands at level 4 anyway, I got roasted by resident dragon….

In my first play-through I never even thought to leave the area as I'm an completionist by nature when I play RPGs. Shows how dumb I was in the end.
Imagine my surprise when I did how much of the game opened up.
I still remember reading the following Kotaku article.

People should play the game the way they want to.
Suggesting them that they should do otherwise - stinks. We're talking about a game that is getting GOTY awards. The game that is nonlinear, openworld, with c&c that is not supposed to be played in just one way. Sorry, but IMO, that ain't and can't be GOTY.
And in all that mess, everyone is forgetting (probably deliberately) that all nonmainstory areas are Hinterlands. We have 10 Hinterlands in the game. Filled with… Filler. Yea, a player can leave Hinterlands, but will still return to be annoyed in all those different Hinterlands.
Instead of leaving Hinterlands just because critics who gave the game 10/10 say so, a player should do what he wants to do. Explore Hinterlands fully? Sure! Why not! One less Hinterlands to be annoyed with later.
And those same critics are lying or were paid to put 10/10 on an annoying grinder. You can't put 10/10 on a game that contains horrible content. So horrible you're suggesting players to skip it ASAP.
It's like putting 10/10 on Mass Effect 2 deliberately misleading people into thinking sonar is not a disaster. It is. It is possibly the worst thing Bioware ever designed. And that same catastrophic sonar is resurrected in 10/10 DA3.

Isn't the challenge with this you party will be burned to toast (literally!) by the level 12 dragon that is somewhere in the Hinterlands? if said party is level 4 or 6 or even 8?

Can someone explain to me why we have only two areas (Orlais or Ferelden) on the war map and which of them we should be focusing on (and why ?)

Because Canada has two language spoken parts unlike states of America that have… More than two.
You don't need to focus on one, play any area you want.

1) Someone comes on the thread and says, "I don't get it."
2) People try to help.
3) Joxer says "everything sucks, don't bother."
4) Thread ends.
It's like I'm stuck in a time vortex. Over and over.
