Default Dragon Age: Inquisition - David Gaider Q&A

January 2nd, 2015, 18:34
Lead Writer of BioWare David Gaider answered a few questions for Dragon Age: Inquisition on his webpage. They mostly deal with the games writing.

Here is a short sample of the various questions asked.

Just curious, of all the fan theories that you've seen, have any (at least partially) correctly guessed the direction of any future stories/plots/etc.? If you can't talk about it, I understand.

There’s so many of them that, like a shotgun, at least some of them have to hit the mark (to a point). I’m not going to say which, of course, but there’s a couple I’ve read where I was like “oh, that’s pretty close…not too bad…aww, and here you go right off the rails. Tsk.” Fan speculation is fun.

Thank you for making such a fun game! I was wondering - did you guys make DA:I with DLC ideas already in mind? Or does work on that kind of thing only start now?

We have plans for what comes next — we always have plans — though usually, once we reach that point, things have changed sufficiently that we need to adjust course. The Big Picture generally stays the same, but the details change a lot…the overall story of Inquisition doesn’t much resemble how it first started out, for instance, even though the major beats of it (and how they lead into the future) stayed consistent.
More information.

At this point, unless the DLC continues the story, I'll likely not buy it. I'm not a fan of DLC dropped months later that include pre-finale events.

Are you sure you are not mistaking Bioware and EA for CDProjekt! What did you expect?

Some of the DA: Origins DLC took place after the main story, including the Awakening expansion, so I hold out hope. Granted, that was prior to EA.
