Default Mistborn - New Development Update

January 3rd, 2015, 11:08
Once again I've missed this bit of information on Mistborn: Birthright that was posted on Facebook last month. The good news is the game is still being developed.

Hi Mistborn fans,

Again, please accept our apology for the lack of information.

Little Orbit is now five years old, and over that time we have interviewed many fans and asked exactly what kind of Mistborn game they would like to see. Unsurprisingly we learned there aren't many developers in the world that can do Birthright justice. Even Little Orbit as a publisher has taken on larger and larger projects in an effort to mature and grow to a point where we could properly support a AAA Mistborn game.

We spent much of 2014 working with a couple developers to map out a game that fans would love. And while this project has taken much longer than we had anticipated, it is still moving forward.

- The game design is complete
- The game follows Brandon's original storyline which takes place in the early years of the Final Empire [edited - thanks!]
- The game is going to be on XboxOne, PS4, Xbox360, PS3, and PC
- We're targeting a Fall 2016 release

We hope to announce some significant details about the game and the new developer in early 2015. We appreciate your patience.
More information.

That will take a LOT of money, same amount of experience of veteran coders, artist, designers. If any of these they can bring in faulty - impotent employees in the grip of the Dunning–Kruger effect - their game will suffer!

I usually don't agree with you but your right. After the long delays already I hope they secured a good source of funding to continue developing the game.

Still I wonder who the developer is? I can't wait for more information..

Developer is called Little orbit and they are studio that i used to milk licences.

Studio that exsists only for milking licences, multiplatform and no screenshot, trailer or gameplay video for game that is less than year away.It all smells of potential disaster.

I was referring to the last part of the post where they say a new developer.
We hope to announce some significant details about the game and the new developer in early 2015. We appreciate your patience.
Thanks for the link though as it helped refresh my memory who Little Orbit was.

Hey, wait a minute. I listened to those books. I wonder how they want to make a game out of it… The setting was nice enough, but it's not like the series was a masterpiece. Sanderson's newer work with The Stormlight Archive series is much better!

Tail end of 2016 is definitely FAR too late to be hobbling themselves to the level of at least the 360 and probably the PS3 as well---cut those and the game has to stand a far better chance of not getting lost in the weeds.

Sanderson is hugely overrated. That said, I did enjoy the first Mistborn book, though not as much as many people seemed to. The other two, not so much. Interesting magic system, though.

I do agree that first Mistborn trilogy is bit overrated. It has superbly written magic combat but most of the world and characters are uninteresting. It's good but not good enough to justify all the hype.

But I don't agree that Sanderson is overrated.

Way of kings is great in every way and Alloy of law(second Mistborn trilogy) and Stealheart are very good also.
