Default DA:Inquisition - Lore & Gameplay @ Gamemoir

January 7th, 2015, 11:19
Nick D. of Gamemoir posted a new article with his opinion that the lore of Dragon Age: Inquisition gets in the way game-play. Here is a short snippet of the article.

Dragon Age: Inquisition isn’t a bad game. Actually, it’s my favourite in the series. But that doesn’t mean that there weren’t problems. Runaway lore was one such problem. I understand that, especially as a fantasy game, you need to establish the world and make it seem real. However, Inquisition went about this in the worst possible way. Think of lore like any bit of written communication. A short, concise statement that leaves the reader satisfied is going to gather a lot more invested readers than over-the-top verbosity with very little to say. Inquisition clearly favoured the latter approach.
More information.

Also called shallowness. Plus the 3D engine features, especially how incompetent they handled Frostbite makes this game a botched up work.

Knowing you I bet you didn't even read the article.

Look I know this game has faults and I have talked about them myself plenty of times on various threads, but at the end of the day the game is not that bad.

I have replayed the game three times now with different characters & choices, and have put in over 200 hrs of playtime in the last two months. So I'm not spouting nonsense.

Frankly I got my moneys worth, and can't understand members of this site anymore as everyday I read replies that have me shaking my head in bafflement.

Sorry couch I just can't see me replaying it in it's current state.
I would love to for sakes of c&c, but honestly I started to hate bears because of that game.

Lore and the exposition of same was not something I considered a big problem with DA:I. It's particularly ridiculous to mention "word documents" when you can read it or not. Your choice. Most sane people (i.e. not reviewers) were far more irked by respawning, UI and a botched Tactical Interface. Other than that I fully enjoyed the game.

There is definitely a ton of lore to read. I have started skimming it, as I don't remember all the histories of assorted nobles, anyway…

There is also a problem where you, because of bugs, don't get every codex entry. Another reason for me to replay the game, but then again… Bears…

Well I would make a comment about your image but I hate those bears in DA:I.

Here is one of the official Reddit threads about those damn bears.

My funniest event in the game was seeing 3 wolves chasing a ram that were themselves chased by a bear in the Emerald Forest.

You knew I'll do this:

Hell, I've been manipulated. Which is actually not a bad thing here.
Just keep 'em coming.

Your welcome as I said the game has faults and I cant deny that. It shouldn't take an hour to kill a few bears on one map, and they shouldn't re spawn as they do.

It's still a good game in my opinion though and you can't change my mind.

I'm not trying to change your mind. Why would I?

I'm trying to change the game. Bioware staff does lurk on those forums, mainly in the feedback section. However it's not known if they've returned from holidays (the rumor is they won't be back till 13th).

Let me know if they respond to your thread.

I hope they don't close it as I had a few threads locked a few years back from a moderator who is no longer working for Bioware.

If I recall his name was Stanley Woo.

Moderators on the new forum don't use names. Just ModStaff01, ModStaff02, etc.
And for all I've seen, you have to post some seriously nasty or hate stuff to get the thread locked. Other than that you can speak freely.
For example, they didn't lock my thread where I'm calling them sicillian mafia for the DLC business. That thing would be instalocked or removed and I'd get banned on the old BSN.

Will return if there's news on the matter don't worry. Or other "buggin'" matters.

No, LOL
I'm not on EA's payroll to write endless 10/10 garbage under different names on metacritic.

Never used multiaccounts anywhere.
