Blackguards 2 - A Small Review Roundup
January 17th, 2015, 15:58
I found two new reviews for Blackguards 2 today despite the game not being released yet on Steam. So expect more reviews in the following week from other websites.

When you consider buying Blackguards 2, there are three questions you need to ask yourself. Do you enjoy tactics RPGs? Do you like an interesting high-fantasy story? Do you have hours and hours to sink into a new game? If you answered yes to any of these, then I’d definitely recommend checking out not only Blackguards 2 but its predecessor as well. Daedalic has done a great job at actually listening to the community to help improve their product, and I’m really happy to see what they’ve done. You’re not going to get blown away, but you’ll certainly be left with some fond memories and a solid experience.Twinfinite - 5/5
Blackguard 2 manages to exist as a game that feels like a classic strategy role playing game, and as so much more at the same time. A deep story with great characters, varied quests, deep customization, and great battles make for a must have game. It may be a bit daunting for those new to the genre, but the payoff after the challenge is more than worth it.More information.

I tried it for a bit today(few hours). I can't say there is anything wrong with it as it seems to be well done for the type of game it is. It just isn't my cup of tea and will not be put any more time into it.

A lot of German reviews are out - the embargo lifted on the 16th. Blackguards 2 get 80-85% everywhere and it's supposed to be slightly better than the first game.

The game plays pretty much the same as the first one. Some gameplay elements have been simplified, but without dumbing them down:
- Character development is more flexible (class free)
- Chance to hit is generally higher
- You have access to anonymous troops now (additionally to you normal party)
- You have to conquer a map city by city now, counterattacks can happen (like in Jagged Alliance 2)
- Your main characters are not exactly Paladins again

If you like the first part you'll like this one as well. The strategy part of the game is enhanced (uniform troops, conquering cities).
It's a good strategy game with tactical turn based combat and some roleplaying elements as well. Sometimes it's fun to be a villain…

Pre-embargo reviews generally cant be trusted. Its always a deal. Thats how it works. I wait for more reviews and deeper comparison between first and second title.

I just don't know when I'll find time to play it. So many new games out, so many old games on the table… Maybe after Raven's Cry?
Under siege by RPGs started last year and is continuing. Can we get a postpone on some title please? Yea I know I should play more than one at the same time, but I just can't concentrate while doing that, so…
