Shadow Realms - Possibly Rebooted @ Kotaku
January 7th, 2015, 02:24
It has been a few months since any news of Bioware's latest game Shadow Realms has been posted, and now it seems the game is being redone. Kotaku has the information.
Shadow Realms, last year's surprise announcement from BioWare Austin, is going through big changes and may have been totally rebooted, sources tell Kotaku.More information.
That Austin branch of BioWare, best known for developing the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, originally unveiled Shadow Realms as an online 4 vs. 1 action-role-playing game that would be released episodically beginning in 2015. Although the studio didn't officially say anything about pricing, many believed that the game would be free-to-play.
But things have changed. Two industry sources say they heard Shadow Realms was cancelled, but a third, reliable source familiar with goings-on at BioWare Austin says the game was overhauled in late October and will now have a full campaign. Though some details may be in flux, early plans for Shadow Realms now peg it as a 2017 release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, according to that source.

Well to me this is good news as the game was going to be online only, and seems to be getting a full single-player campaign. Is anyone else interested in the game now?

I was more interested in original version as Bioware singleplayer games suck now a days.
Evolve looked fun with same concept (or similar one) and this would be a fantasy version.
For now we don't have any useful info to base any real opinions on.

They ditched what I call MMO and others call singleplayer with co-op for the sakes of real singleplayer?
Does this mean we get real Kotor 3 too?

I still think the game is going to have the 4v1 thingy, they are just adding in a SP campaign on top because they realized that the 4v1 game had limited appeal (and thus limited cash flow).
Also, they had regular updates until October, the "going dark" happened in November when DAI and SWTOR Shadow of Revan expac released…

They are afraid to directly compete with other online FPS/action games, either already released or developed. So they changed plans to attract SP players too by "great SP with great story from Bioware".

If the final product contains any sign of MMO inside, I won't buy it.
Give me a strictly singleplayer game. Sell MP part as $500 DLC for all I care, I'm not paying for that crap and do not want any part of it in my singleplayer game anywhere.
I'm sick of these modern SP/MP hybrids. Instead of patching the game, EA is patching bloody DA3 multiplayer part only. Go to hell EA and make MMO, risk bankrupcy like you did with SimCity, just leave me alone with your MMO retardness.

But the biggest focus for our team in BioWare Austin will be on*Star Wars™:*The Old Republic. So hardly anything won for the light side of SP games.
